Daisy's POV:

I smiled and walked closer to Mako. I stood in front of him, he looked really uncomfortable. I moved the hair from his face and flattened all the hair on top of his head. He tensed up. I tried to pay attention to him, to try and understand him. I continued to fix his hair, I saw him start to relax. Atticus looked over and smirked. When I was done, "There!" I said. I looked down at him, he returned my gaze and nodded. I smiled and returned to my seat. Atticus smirked at Mako, Mako looked at him confused, which made Atticus chuckle.

Makos POV:

Her hands were so soft and gentle, why do I feel like this... I feel so venerable. It's just because she's new? Right? It's just because Atticus was nice to her... I feel nothing towards her, not at all. The teacher came in, I took my chemistry books out. Atticus and Daisy were still talking, not like I cared. "Hey! You too, shush!" The teacher yelled to those two. I giggled, they immediately shut up. As the class went on I noticed Daisy playing with the test tubes our teacher had given out. She was just zoned out, I wondered how she ever paid attention... how did she even remember to write down the math homework last block? Is she gonna need help with homework? No, she seems smart enough for that. I sighed, I kinda did wish she would ask for help with her homework- but just to humiliate her! I wouldn't actually want to. I focused back to the front of the class.

After class, we had no homework. I got up while Atticus was occupied with his more popular friends, I walked out of the classroom. I went down to my locker, I had to move my bento box around. I noticed two notes on top of its black cover. I thought they were probably from my sister and my mom. I read them, my sister had written "Hey Sharky! I left something special in your lunch today! hope you have a good day, love you! - Olivia" I kept a straight face, but on the inside, I smiled. The one from my mom was nothing out of the ordinary since she always left me notes, "Hi Sweetie! I made your ramen! The broth is separate from the noodles so they don't get soggy, there's some pork and bokchoy for you too. Love you! - Mom." I had always admired my mother's handwriting, so smooth and swift. I put my bento box back in my locker and took a sip of water from my water bottle. Out of nowhere, someone shoved me lightly against my locker, I jumped. I turned around to see Atticus looking at me. He snickered.
"Rude," I said, putting my water bottle back in my backpack. He smiled.
"Can I come over later?" He asked, I looked back. I hesitated, I kinda wanted to be alone so I shook my head. "Awh! Come on! Please? Maybe Daisy could come too? It could be fun!" I looked back to my locker.

"No," I said. Atticus frowned, I know he could tell something was up I would always say yes even if Daisy was going to come.
"Mm, what's up with you?" He asked, I closed my locker.

"I kinda just want to be alone, thats all," He looked at me. He just saw right through anything I put up in front of my feelings, it was annoying. "Mhm." He said.

Atticus POV:
Mako, Mako, Mako... always trying to bury your thoughts and feelings. The bell rang, I ran to my locker and grabbed my books for our next class.

After the 3rd, and 4th block.

Makos POV:
I went up to my locker and put my things away, grabbing my lunch. I went to go sit down next to Atticus, who was sitting alone. I sat down, I opened my bento box. Atticus watched me rather suspiciously. I poured the warm ramen broth from a separate thermos onto the now somewhat dry cooked ramen noodles. The pork floated to the top. I grabbed my chopsticks and ate slowly. I heard Atticus let out a relieved sigh, I scoffed. Soon I heard the voice of a girl asking to sit at our table, it was Daisy of course. "Oh, yeah please go ahead!" Atticus said, Daisy nodded. I realized Atticus still had my phone from earlier, and I saw it sitting on the table next to him away from me. I saw it light up with sports notifications, I groaned at the noises. Why couldn't I have it back! I put my head down on the table. I felt a tap on my head, I looked up and Atticus was holding out my phone to me. He was focused on Daisy, they were chatting so I took it and he pulled his hand back to his food. I also continued to eat. I couldn't believe all the things I'd missed, I guess it was for the better, but still! Atticus didn't really like it when I was on my phone for long periods of time, all it does is stress me out but I don't really care. I finished eating. There was some rice and kimchi left but I wasn't that hungry anymore. I closed my lunch box and put my phone in my pocket. Daisy laughed at something, and I looked up. Her smile was so bright and shiny.  She was laughing at Atticus who had just dropped an entire tomato out of his sandwich onto the table. I turned my attention across the room, I saw my swim coach eating alone. I walked over to the table he was sitting at. He was on his phone. He was about 45 years old, I'd known him since 5th grade.
