Daryl's POV

So much was happening, not just now but over the span of the last two weeks.

The sickness, Carol killing David and Karen, Kaylee getting sick, the run, Kaylee telling me I'm going to be a dad and now this. We couldn't catch a break, not even for a moment of taking in the news of becoming parents.

I'm gonna be a dad.

But everything went wrong so quickly. I could see Lee's hands slightly shaking as she held the fence with one hand watching what her dad was doing every footstep he took getting closer to the Governor.

I pushed the gun slightly into her back letting her know to take it and hopefully not to let the Governor's men in on what we were doing. She takes the rifle from me and instead of walking away, I took a step closer to her. I didn't want to leave her for a single second but she couldn't stay when it all went down, I can't do what I have to do knowing she could be in danger, that our baby could be in danger.

Baby. I couldn't get the baby off the focus of my mind but I had to, to do what I needed to do.

"When things go south, I need you to get your stuff and get on that bus and go," I whisper in her, hoping she'd listen to me. She goes to turn her body slightly to look at me, but I couldn't look in her eyes at this moment in fear of breaking down or running with her but I had to stay and fight, we both knew this. I placed my hand on her hip, stopping her turning to face me. "Please Lee, please do this for me," I practically begged her.

"Dare," I can hear the pain, the sadness in her voice as it cracks. She didn't want to leave me just as much as I didn't want her to leave but she had to, she had to get her and our baby out of here.

"I'll find you, I promise," I tell her. I will find her, I will always find her. I go to step away, my hand still resting on her waist. I stop myself and place a small kiss on her shoulder. Getting slightly closer to her ear, I whisper once more, "I love you, both of you." I drop my hand from her waist, praying that's not the last time I get to hold her.

Finishing handing out the rifles, I stand the other side of Carl. I wanted to be as close to Kaylee as I could but also look out for Carl, that's what Lee would want. Holding my riffle up, watching the Governor and Rick "talk" through the scope, as Carl pipes up saying we should do something, but there was nothing we could do but wait in the hopes that Rick could sort this out, fix it somehow.

But that wasn't going to happen, not with the Governor calling the shots. What he had already put us all through was testament to what he could and would do to us and that's exactly what was about to happen.

I watch as the Governor swings down Michonne's katana, slicing through Hershel's neck Screams came echoing around me. Beth and Maggie dropping their guns in shock as they cry out for their father. I see Kaylee's shocked and heartbroken look on her face as her mentors life is taken from him, his girls and Kaylee and then all hell broke loose. Rick ducked behind the bus in the courtyard as we all raised our guns, firing at the governor and his men.

More of our people were running from inside the prison with guns in hand ready to help us. I pull my gun down from eye level turning to look at Lee. She lowers her gun at the same time knowing I was look over to her. I give her a firm nod to let her know now was the time to go. I pleaded with her with my eyes. She had to get out of her, everything was getting worse by the second.

She fires off a few more shots before running to get her stuff before going to the bus. Turning back to what was happening in front of me I see the tank has now taken down the outer fence, the cars following behind it as they enter the field.
