THE FORGOTTEN KINGDOM

ATHENA 

We had been flying for several days when Thea finally started to slow her pace dipping in the air and I patted her neck giving Arthur a worried glance. The king looked just as startled, I turned back to the front and placed my hand against Thea's neck "is everything ok?" I asked knowing that she probably wouldn't answer me but to my surprise she did nodding her head and then turning to look at me excitement dancing in her eyes. Arthur was giving me an odd look but I shrugged grinning finding Thea's excitement infectious and the king shook his head rolling his eyes. Thea winked at me a mischievous look in her eyes and I narrowed my eyes at her playfully, it was like she was daring me and before I could piece it together Thea tucked in her wings and dived straight towards the ground causing me to yelp and clutch her neck with Arthur screaming behind me as he grabbed my waist in a death grip trying to stay seated. I shivered as we dived through a cloud my clothes drenched from the water and I blinked trying to shield my eyes against the sun as it glinted of a river. Thea roared in delight startling the birds in the trees as they took flight as she dipped a wing in the river before flicking it arm further drenching me and Arthur who yelped from the cold as I laughed wondering what had gotten into her, Thea spiralled back into the sky and Arthur groaned and I looked back at him to find him looking a little grin one hand against his mouth and he gave me a pleading look glancing at Thea and I pressed my lips together fighting a laugh. Nodding I patted Thea and she glanced back at me tilting her head and I pointed at Arthur, her eyes followed the motion and she studied Arthur before snorting in amusement and she levelled out slowly descending back through the clouds and I gasp as our surroundings became familiar. I blinked in surprise as we flew over the forest of Essetir and I felt like face palming, of course Merlin would head to Ealdor Ramsey didn't know anything about it as it wasn't in Camelot or Thea's kingdom so the chances of him finding us here were small at least I hoped that was the case.

Thea landed just outside of Ealdor not wanting to spook the villagers as they all believed dragons to be extinct due to the great purge and I kind of wanted to keep it that way, if people started seeing dragons flying through the skies again it wouldn't be long until the dragon hunters returned and I didn't want that to happen. Groaning Arthur dropped down from Thea wobbling slightly as his legs protested from the impact and I snorted, Thea lifted her front leg allowing me to use it as a stepping stone as I made my way to the floor ignoring Arthurs grumbling. I winced as my legs screamed at me I sighed as my wounds started bleeding, sitting on a dragon without a saddle was a bad idea as it had ripped the skin of my legs and now that I was moving I was no longer numb to the pain and I could tell from Arthurs face that he was also regretting his decision. I wobbled over to Arthur gritting my teeth against the pain and placed a hand on his chest startling him, my eyes flashed gold and I watched as his face broke out into e relieved smile as his wounds closed, nodding his thanks he raised an eyebrow at me before pointing to my own legs. I blinked looked down to find that my breeches were turning scarlet and I sighed now remembering that I too was wounded, I mumbled a healing spell gritting my teeth as I felt my skin knit itself back together. "We should probably change our clothes" Arthur said indicating the grime we were covered in and I sighed raising an eyebrow making a show of looking around "Yeah sure let me get my clothes from the dragon...oh wait" I said sarcastically and he glared at me shaking his head in annoyance as I grinned. "I can never decide which one of you is worse" Arthur said and I blinked at him giving him a confused look as I tilted my head, he gave me a pained look as he continued "You or Merlin" I snorted giving him a pat on the back as I replied "Me obviously your marrying Merlin" he laughed giving me a fond look "Good luck with that by the way" I said slyly as I winked at him, he gave me a startled look but I refused to say anything else walking back to Thea. I stroked Thea's neck as she hummed giving me a concerned look and I frowned but when her eyes flickered to my legs I smiled giving stroking her snout reassuringly and she purred. I yelped in surprise as her tongue snaked out licking my face and I laughed wiping the drool of my face as she snorted at me clearly impressed with herself, I heard Arthur laughing and I narrowed my eyes at him. Thea nudged me and I yelped giving her an indignant look but I frowned at the look in her eyes, they were expectant. Arthur gave me an odd look as a grin appeared on my face and he yelled after me as I started sprinting towards the trees, a black Mustang came trotting out of the trees looking back behind her as if she was waiting for someone. "MIDNIGHT" I yelled in delight and she turned at the sound of my voice whinnying happily when she saw me and I opened my arms as she galloped forward, as soon as she reached me she was nuzzling me in the chest and I laughed as I almost toppled over from the force. I wrapped my arms around her neck stroking her main before running my eyes over her checking for any injuries, she looked remarkably clean considering she had been on her own for over a week; but then she was still mostly wild so I shouldn't have been surprised she had managed to keep herself feed etc. "I FOUND HER" someone shouted and I jumped Midnight nickering in amusement, Thea roared and someone screamed and I looked to Arthur who shrugged. I peered around Midnight eyes flashing gold as a flame appeared in my hand and I gasped as the woman turned to me. Morgana blinked in shock shaking her head as if she was seeing things but Arthur was already running and he threw his arms around her almost sending them to the floor and I laughed and then found myself with a face full of material as Merlin tackled me in a hug and I landed on the floor with a yelp. Merlin was holding me so tight I felt my ribs creak but I was probably holding him just as tight and he shuddered. I frowned suddenly realising that he was crying and I forced his head up to look at me concern clear on my face, he was grinning like a fool and I sighed trying not to roll my eyes as I realised they were tears of relief and joy.
