THE FORGOTTEN KINGDOM

THE CORONATION

ATHENA 

I was on the training grounds fighting with Sir Lancelot and Sir Gwain wasting no time in getting back into our familiar routine. I locked swords with Gwain and ducked as Lance aimed a blow at my head, I was forced to unlock my sword and danced back. Grinning I circled them waiting for their next move, Lance swiped at my arm and I spun knocking his sword out of his hands. That left me and Gwain who smirked at me we traded blows gathering a crowd as other knights started turning up, we danced around each other before I locked our swords together and shoving him back causing him to let go dropping his sword to the ground. "Athena" I winced at the sharp tone and slowly turned towards my mother as she came storming towards me an annoyed look on her face. I pursed my lips and looked at Gwain and Lance who bowed to her as she reached us "Mother" I said noting the fact that I sounded defensive even to myself, she narrowed her eyes at me "What are you doing?" she asked and I raised my eyebrows "Training" I said in a tone that made it sound like it should be obvious because duh I was on the training field. My mother sighed shaking her head and gesturing to my outfit "You're going to ruin your dress" she said and I rolled my eyes sighing. "I'm sorry but all my training clothes are still in Camelot I sent Freya to retrieve them she won't be back until tomorrow" I said trying not to sound as defensive as I felt, I narrowed my eyes at my mother and continued "You were never bothered about it before" I said and she rolled her eyes at me "Yes will you were younger then you were bound to get dirty" she said in a tone that indicated it should have been obvious and I smirked. She grumbled at me as she took in the fact that the dress I was currently wearing was covered in mud and ripped in places where the swords had cut through the fabric. "Come on I need to finalise some things with you and your brother" she said motioning for me to follow her I grumbled but gave the sword to Gwain who bowed and walked away putting the sword back in the rack as I made my way to the castle.

We walked into the council chambers and Merlin turned around raising an eyebrow in disbelief as he looked at the state of my dress and Arthur snorted as I stuck my tongue out at him. Shaking his head Merlin gives our mother a hug as Arthur bowed to our mother and then to me we both waved him of and he grinned straightening up "Mother you should have known better" Merlin said laughing as he gestured to my outfit and she laughed shaking her head good-naturedly "Shut up" I grumbled rolling my eyes at their teasing but the grin on my face took the bite out of my words. Morgana gave me a kiss and we all took our seats Hunith at the head with Merlin and I on her left and right, Arthur sat beside Merlin and took his hand blushing at the knowing look I gave him and Morgana sat by my side. "So we are here to discuss the future of our two kingdoms" Hunith started and I tried not to groan in dismay this was going to be a long day, Merlin gave me a long suffering look and I pressed my lips together trying not to laugh. "I knew you as a prince Arthur and even then I saw something in you how kind you were to my son despite what your father had brought you up to believe" Hunith said looking at Arthur who shifted in embarrassment as Merlin grinned and kissed him on the cheek, I looked to Morgana and pretended to gag she giggled quickly covering her mouth cheeks turning red as my mother turned towards her. "You came to help Ealdor even though it was not a part of your kingdom and you helped its people against your fathers orders from what I remember" the queen continued and I looked at Arthur impressed. He disobeyed his father to help my mother? I hadn't known him then I had avoided Camelot until Uther died and even then it had taken me another three years to get there. Morgana laughed "Only after the rest of us had already left" Morgana said smirking and Arthur narrowed his eyes at her and Merlin grinned shaking his head. Gwen snickered as she filled our goblets making me blink in surprise I hadn't even noticed that the servants had come in to serve us lunch.
