Chapter 20

Thanit's pov:

I sighed as I slumped onto the chair in my office.

I just finished a 5-hour surgery.

I sat there with my eyes closed for a while.

I opened them after a few minutes and took my phone from the desk.

No new texts.

I wonder if he was able to sleep.

That one time I woke up early, he almost had a panic attack not finding me there.

I frowned slightly.

I could feel worry crawling up inside me.

Should I call him?

No, what if he's sleeping?

I groaned while ruffling my hair.

I can't leave for at least 3 more hours.

I need to check on some more patients and I have another surgery scheduled in an hour.

He would call if something happens right?

I stared at my phone intently.

He should have learned from this punishment. I don't want to do this either but I need to enforce the rules we agreed on or this isn't going to work.

I sighed and turned it off and kept it on the desk facedown before going out.

When I went back home, it was already 5 a.m.

I checked Estelle's room after going into my house.

She was sleeping soundly.

I frowned slightly when I saw that Tae wasn't with her.

I went to our bedroom next.

I couldn't see him but I could tell something was there under the duvet in the middle of the bed.

I went closer and slowly lifted the duvet peeking under it.

A smile formed on my face when I saw him curled around my pillow with his nose buried in it.

Thankfully he was sleeping soundly.

I couldn't help but internally coo at how adorable he looked like this.

I put the duvet back down and loosened it around the sheets so it would be easier for him to move around under it.

I was about to go into the bathroom but stopped in my tracks when I saw something on the nightstand.

I took the card of sleeping pills and examined it with a frown.

If I remember correctly, I hadn't taken any pills from this card.

But there were two missing.

I then looked at the bed.

Did he take these?

I sighed and kept it on the nightstand before going into the bathroom.

I should've known...

I took a warm shower and changed into some fresh clothes before going back to bed.

I set the alarm for 8 and got under the duvet next to Tae.

I stayed close but didn't touch him.

Tae's pov:

I slowly opened my eyes and blinked a few times trying to clear my vision.
