"why can't you be young again? why are you like this?" you ask as
you shrink our hearts into lumps of dirt and when you break them they shatter like glass and
you blame us for the blood dripping from your lethal fists, dripping on the mellow grass
where we played in when we were young and you tell us that you want our old selves back
(and not this. not the rebellious, depressed teenagers you broke, the adolescents who are simply older children, children who want but can never have justice)
but oh, dear adults, you are not gods. you're monsters and you didn't know how fragile we were when we broke you blame us for what we lack
and honestly i want the old me back too but we can't act like children anymore and its simply because you no longer treat us like kids
