I make my way towards the entrance where I am met by a tall man with a serious, grim look plastered on his face.
"My name is Tobias Evergreen. I will be your headmaster here at Haven academy. What is your name?" He asks.
"Amethyst Coolidge." I say.
He pulls out a book, nods, and tells me to follow him.
The doors open and we make our way down a hallway until we reach a large room with 3 extremely long tables. "This is our dining hall." The man says. "Here you will eat at your assigned table based on the group you are placed in." "Group?" I ask. "Tomorrow you will be put through a series of tests, determining whether you make the yellow, blue, or red team. Red being the best yellow the worst. Once in your group you will be competing against one another to be ranked for the end of your first term. Being on a certain team is never permanent as you always have the ability to move up or down." "Got it." I say, knowing I would most likely be the worst out of all the kids here, as I have never participated in any athletic activity in my life.
He took me around the rest of the facility, where I saw a large weaponry area with the most bizarre weapons, the different bedroom chambers, the gym; honestly this whole place itself was a gym; and the tour ended off with the grand finale. We entered the largest room in the academy with stands holding over a thousand seats, and in the middle of them was an arena. "Your lessons are made to train and prepare you for each competition that takes place here. And depending on the category the competition will be on, determines how this arena is set up. Placing in these competitions bring your ranking points up a great deal more than your regular activities within your group. Here, everyone competes against one another." "Geez, no pressure there." I mutter. After, he takes me back towards the bedrooms, where stop in front of the one. He tells me I'll be sleeping here. "I hope you enjoy your time here, and good luck tomorrow." The headmaster says. "Thank you." I say, and with that he turns around and leaves.
I enter my dorm, where I am met by the 9 other girls sleeping here. One approaches me. "Hi! I'm Karly Fray. What's your name?" She asks. "Amethyst Coolidge" I reply. The introduction went on the same. They introduced themselves and I as well. Noticing one girl who I haven't met yet, I walked over and said hi. "I'm Amethyst" I say politely. She looks up and the first thing I notice are her brown, possibly black, eyes that hide her emotions. She is beautiful. With her long and thick dark brown hair, along with a few added natural highlighted strands, her defined cheekbones, plump red lips, and her toned, yet curvy, body, I was amazed. Yet at the same time, I was pretty scared and nervous. She stares at me as if she's looking into my soul, trying to figure me out. She was very intimidating, to say the least. But when she opens her mouth, her voice is calm and sweet. "Esmeray Alasor. But you can just call me Mere." She says, then gives me a smile. "You're new here?" "Yup. First day." I respond.
"You know what group you're in yet?"
"I'll find out tomorrow." I say "I have to take some kind of tests."
"Which group are you in?" I ask
"Red."
"Is everyone else in here red as well?" I say wondering.
"No. There's a mixture of all three groups in each dorm." Esmeray tells me.
We talk a bit more about our family, when we got here, and the basic time schedules. Esmeray, like me, is 15, and only a few weeks older. She arrived here a few weeks ago. That was how a lot of the girls were in here. Many were 15, and the others were 16, second years. We were all talking until we hear a loud noise.
"Time for dinner." Molly; a blonde haired first year exclaims.
We all walk out and make our way to the dining room where a line had already formed to get food.
"What do you think we're having today?" Chloe, another one of my roommates asks us.
"Bland and stale pizza, like everyday." Mere replies with a look of disgust plastered on her face. She turns to me and says, "Don't worry, you get used to it after a bit." We both laugh and wait the remaining amount of time until we reach the front of the line, where an old lady hands us a tray of two slices of pizza and a bottle of water. Mere was right, I think to myself.
After getting our food, we all separate and make our way towards the assigned tables. "You can just sit with me for today." Mere says. She leads me to the long table to the right, and take a seat. My stomach immediately gets tight, as I feel multiple eyes glaring at me.
"Who are you?" A girl asks. She had piercing blue eyes with short blonde hair.
"Amethyst" I reply.
"Are you sure you're sitting at the right table?" The girl giggles. "You don't really look like you belong here, no offense."
"Why don't you piss of Clara." Mere instantly snaps at her.
"Calm down Esmeray" Clara says. "I was just wondering if the poor girl was lost." She flashes me a mean smirk.
"Jeez Clara, give it a rest." A boy says.
I was so focused on Clara that I completely forgot about all the people around us, including the extremely good looking brunette boy with a middle part and hazel eyes. He smiled at me. Gosh he had the cutest smile ever. I blush, but look away so he doesn't notice.
"Im Haydn." The boy says.
I smile and say, "Nice to meet you."
"First day?" He asks.
"Yup"
"Were you placed in the red group?"
"I'm not in any group as of now. I find out tomorrow" I tell him.
"Well I hope you are in this group." He says and gives me a sweet smirk.
"Me too." I say
I met a few other people around me. They were much nicer compared to Clara, who gave me death stares the whole rest of the time. I was relieved when a voice announced dinner was over and it was time to go back to the dorms. As Esmeray and I are walking back, she reassures me that Clara is harmless and would not try anything. Once we get back to our dorm, meeting the other girls, it was time to go to bed and get ready for tomorrow's classes. "What if I didn't make the red team?" I thought. I was stressing  about tomorrow, but tried to get some sleep. I knew anything could go happen tomorrow, and that was what scared me the most.
