I gently placed Amira on my bed and sat next to her, caressing her wet hair away from her face. I had locked us in my room as everyone downstairs tended to their wounds.
"You must be cold, baby. We need to get you out of this wet dress," I whispered. "I'll go get something to warm you up."
I got up and quickly walked to the bathroom and brought all the towels and blankets I could find. I sat back down on the bed and placed a couple of towels over her body to dry her up. I wrapped her hair with another towel and rubbed the towel softly against her arms to get her dried up.
"Oh, I forgot the clothes."
I got back up off the bed and walked to my closet. I put on one of my black tees. I grabbed the only clothes I had of Amira's, the outfit she had on just yesterday when we went to the waterfall. Walking out of the closet, I stopped in my tracks and stared down at Amira's clothes for a second, then I stared at her on my bed. After a couple of seconds of staring, I finally moved towards the bed.
"Here, you'll feel much comfortable in these."
I placed the clothes next to her head and removed the towels off her body and hair. I grabbed at the top of her dress and tore it apart. I lifted her body up to a sitting position, leaning her against my chest, and put her head through the hole of the shirt. I continued to rip her dress until it was completely off her body. Then I proceeded to clean her bare feet with one of the towels. I pulled her skirt on and zipped it up. I pulled a couple of blankets over her until it covers to her chin, making her look like a warm burrito. I lied down next to her and pulled her close to me. I kissed her on the forehead and rested me cheek against the top of her head.
"Good night," I whispered as I closed my eyes.
"I love you, my Queen."
Then, without warning, my shoulders began to shake violently as the sounds of my sobs filled the silent room. The numbness had dissipated and the feeling of pain shot me right in the heart again. I don't know how long I stood lying beside her as I sobbed, but I couldn't seem to stop the pain I felt.
"Logan?" There was a soft knock on my door.
"Can I come in?" Savannah's voice came from the other side of the door.
I didn't answer, I just kept my eyes closed and held Amira tightly. I heard the door cautiously being pushed open which meant Savannah used her magic to unlock it.
"Oh Logan," Savannah whispered sadly as I sensed her a few feet away from me. I finally opened my eyes and stared at her. Tears were stained on her cheeks.
"Bring her back," I choked out as I felt my throat tightening up. Savannah walked closer to me, watching me with eyes full of sorrow.
"You know that's not possible," she replied softly with a frown on her face.
I turned my head away from her and closed my eyes again. I heard her take a deep breath before speaking again.
"I need to take Amira home." I snapped my eyes open and turned to look at her.
"No," I said firmly and calmly.
"She has to be buried like a proper Witch." Savannah tried again to get me to listen.
"I SAID NO!" I quickly moved off the bed towards Savannah, making her take multiple quick steps back in fear. I felt my eyes raging and just from the look I gave her, Savannah knew to leave my room.
"Okay." She said softly as she backed further away from me to get to the door.
"Ky's awake, just so you know," she said right before leaving and closing the door shut.
I walked back to Amira and sat on the bed, caressing her cheek. After a couple of minutes passed, I finally got up.
"I'll be right back, baby." I kissed her on the forehead and left my bedroom, locking it with the key that I had on my desk.
I solemnly walked towards the guest room where Ky was at. I could hear everyone standing in the halls, talking amongst themselves. They all fell silent once they saw me get closer. They all seemed hesitant to move or say anything. Devin was the first to approach me and without saying a word, he quickly pulled me into a strong hug. Savannah must've told him what happened in my room or it could have been the fact that I looked like complete shit. I didn't move and just watched the others over Devin's shoulder. Devin pulled away and finally spoke.
"We will find a way to get Claw and make him pay, I promise you that." He held a determined look on his face. I just nodded and stared at the door.
"I need to speak with Ky," I said in monotone. Devin stepped out of my way and without looking at anyone, I opened the door and stepped inside. Ky was sitting at the end of the bed with her head buried into her hands. I didn't know why I partially blamed Ky for Amira's death, but the numbness I felt earlier was returning and I just lashed out on Ky.
"Where the hell were you when she needed you?" My voice was low through clenched teeth and Ky's head shot up to look at me. Her face had no evidence of tears, but she held a look of sorrow and horror mixed together.
"I was weak," Ky let out an exasperated sigh. "But as soon as she took her last breath, I felt this new strength surge through me."
"What?" I cocked my head in confusion as I thought Familiars slowly died once they lost their Witch counterpart. At least that's what Amira had told me.
"I don't know, it's like her death brought this new power within me. I can still feel it." Ky lifted her hands to look at them and for a second, sparks flashed on her fingertips. Those sparks looked exactly like when Amira would create electric orbs.
"I think I have Amira's magic," Ky whispered to herself, but I heard it.
"What do you mean you have Amira's magic?" My voice came out angrier and Ky looked back at me.
"I don't know how long it will take..." Ky stood up from the bed, "but I will figure this out. Until then, take care of yourself Alpha Prince."
Ky had a sympathetic look on her face and then she disappeared from the room in front of my eyes.
"Ky!" I shouted and ran out of the room.
"Whoa, bro, what happened?" Devin asked with a look of worry. I noticed that Devin and Jade were now the only ones standing here.
"Where are they?" I asked frantically.
"Who?"
"Savannah and Sophie," I was getting impatient.
"Chill bro, they said they wanted to be with Amira for a bit." When Devin said this, my eyes grew wide and I ran in a flash towards my bedroom.
I kicked open my bedroom door and there on my bed lied... no one.
I sat on the bed and ran my hands through my hair, gripping on it in frustration. Devin and Caleb came through the door a minute later.
"Logan?... what's going on?"
"They took her." I whispered without lifting my head.
Devin sat down next to me, placed a hand on my shoulder, and spoke in a low tone.
"She's a Witch, she has to be with her kind." Devin sighed. "I know it's hard, trust me, I know. But it's where she belongs."
I finally lifted up my head and stared at Devin. When the fuck did he become this perceptive?
"Focus on killing that Claw guy instead." Caleb said and I turned to see his arms crossed against his chest, anger in his eyes.
"They didn't tell you." I asked Caleb
"Tell me what?" Caleb uncrossed his arms and stared at me with confusion.
I looked right into his eyes and told him straight up who Claw really was.
"He's your Dad, Caleb. Claw is your Dad."
