I woke up to early again which is annoying because I planned on sleeping longer. I wake up everyday at 6 am to the same song playing and it's sorta strange. It's like my body just know when that song comes on it's time to get up. I figured out because I memorized that the dj plays that particular song only at 6am so I got used to it.
I accept the fact that I won't be able to sleep any further so I got up to start my day. I grabbed my clothes and took a shower. I like cold showers in the morning, i know I'm crazy but it helps me wake up. I like the cold water running down my face and it feels sorta nice on my sore muscles.
I step out the shower and dried myself off. Then my phone buzzed. I pick it up and read the text.
Ryan: Are you ready, time is ticking ;)
What!? How the heck is he up and ready before me? He must have woke up before me. Overachiever, he's seriously gonna kill me.
Michael: Be down in 20.
He instantly texted me back before I had a chance to put down my phone. Ryan and I ever since we started to play football, we went on morning runs except for weekends. He's the team captain but he's also my friend so I guess it works out.
Ryan: No, make that 5 or I'm coming in.
My eyes widen, he can't come in my house, my parents don't like him and I don't want him to think we're weird family because it's so dysfunctional. I bite my nails anxiously.
I scramble around trying to get ready. I almost trip and fall trying to put my shoes on. I tried to make my hair look a little nice but I'm running out of time. I brush my teeth & sprayed some mist on. Finally grabbing my duffle bag for practice after school and two granola bars, almost walked out the door. Then I had to back track because I forgot to put my dog tag back on because I never leave without it.
Out of breath, I made it outside. He shakes his head while looking at his watch. "You made it out a minute too late but hey, least you made it outside." I roll my eyes. If I just remembered to grab the dog tag before trying the door, it would have shaved off the last 10 seconds.
Whatever, I failed today so I wonder how practice is gonna go for me later. "I thought you said be ready by 6:30am?"
"No Mike, I said 5:30am."
What!? He did not say 5:3- oh, maybe he did. I was sorta half listening because I was falling asleep on our phone call last night. Oops!
"Yeah, I misheard you." I look down a bit feeling awkward. He gets closer to me and put his hand on my shoulder. I look up immediately from contact. "It's okay, just listen next time. Your getting quicker so you are progressing."
I try to hide a smile. His eyes are pretty, they're hazel green like his sisters but his have more of a brown tint. I zoned out until he pressure pointed me.
"Ow, what was that for Ryan!?" He laughed at me! What a jerk.
"Like I said, you need to listen more." I pushed him, walking to his truck and threw my stuff in. Him following close behind he pinched my side.
"Ow, Reginald!" He started to run off and I chased after him.
"Ha, try to catch me blondie!" We ran a whole 2 miles and by the end of it I wanted to crash. We came back to his truck at 7:05 and drank tons of water.
We get in his truck and drove to school.
"So what did you eat for breakfast?" I blink. I didn't eat anything this morning because of him! But I can't say that, he'd pressure point me again. I try my best to avoid the question but it never works on him.
"Hey when is the history assignment due I-"
"Mikey, answer my question please." I sigh. I held out the two granola bars and he got my drift. He scoffs. I can't help but smirk because he's so done with me at the moment.
"That's not a valid breakfast and since it's in your hands, I can assume you didn't eat anything." He drove a different direction from the school.
"Ryan, where are you going, schools that way." I point behind us. "I'm buying you breakfast, you gotta eat something so you have energy for practice." I guess he's right.
"But we're gonna be late for school." He shrugs. But I'm nervous. All I need is the school calling my dad and I would be done for.
"No it's ok, I'm fine. I'll just buy something at school." He looked at me for a moment, I assure him I'll be okay for practice. He finally dropped the topic and took me to school.
Making it on time for attendance, I sit in my normal seat in the back. Ryan always sits at the desk in front of me so we can chat in home room. We have home room, history, French, and PE together but the rest we are on our own. He mostly hangs out with his sister or Jazz mostly.
Jazz is my sister and she's the captain of the cheerleading & Volleyball team. She is also Ryan's girlfriend, which makes sense because they're both popular. It's bizarre because he's dating my sister and I'm dating his. Her names Rachelle and she's bit of a fireball but she makes things interesting. Maybe a bit extreme, she gets me in trouble a lot but for some reason my parents like her but dislike Ryan.
But it's cool. She's a sweet girl and all but I see her more like a sister figure. I don't want to prolong it with her but I'm just waiting for the best time to do so without hurting her. The bell rang and we were dismissed from homeroom.
I felt a tap on my shoulder as I'm about to leave. "Hey are you still wearing your dog tag?" He shows me his and I pull mine out from under my shirt. He smiles at me. "Alright cool, see ya in History." We did our handshake and then parted ways.
