I place my backpack on the hook in my locker just grabbing the textbook, a notebook, and a couple pencils for my first class which was Literature for me. As always, I sit in the back. Placing a foot on the seat beside me to save a spot for Rachelle.
My girlfriends in this class with me but she's either always late or doesn't show up. I guess today she came and was on time. She scanned the room and when she found me, she smiled and made her way to the seat beside me.
"Hi."She lays her bag down and sits beside me. I smile.
"Hey." My smile turned into a frown when I saw a visible bruise on the side of her face. Class didn't officially start yet so I got up and pulled her face towards me so I can get a better look.
"Ray what is th-?"
"It's nothing Michael, i'm fine. You know how I get clumsy sometimes." I shake my head because that doesn't look like a accident. It looks like someone punched her.
I was about to investigate further but the bell rang and class started. I guess I'll wait until later.
Class went by fast and the subject was okay. I like the book assignments but the writing prompts suck. Like instead of letting us pick our own topics, the teachers make us pick from a list they made. Like yeah, I totally want to write a story on what was the best day I ever had was. It's quite lame and lacks creativity but whatever.
I notice Rachelle was already on her way out and I quickly grab my things and tried to chase her down through the crowd.
I caught up to her near the little corner they had between the lockers. "Hey it's okay, please tell me what happened." She rubs her hands on her blue jeans to calm her nerves while I wait patiently for an answer.
I frown and look away. "Was it Jazz again?" She looked up at me and I knew that's what it was. My sister is popular and has friends so she likes to bully Ryan's little sister. It's a thing between me and her because Ryan doesn't know. He's a bit clueless because he's dating Jazz. My sister doesn't like Rach, I don't know why because she's amazing but Jazz doesn't like me either. She just tolerates me because I'm her brother + Ryan and I are close.
I sigh. I wish I can do something about this but Jazz will make my life more miserable if I even tried. "Look, if she tries to do something again run away and call me, ok?"
She laughs and I don't know why, is it something I said. "I can fight her it's not really a big deal."
"-Then why were yo-?"
"Can I stay and watch you guys practice, please!" That sly bitch. She seriously did her weird psychology stuff on me to make me feel bad. So I would let her come to practice.
I sigh in defeat. "Sure but how did you really get that bruise?" She smirked.
"Don't worry about it." She winked and walked away. Sometimes, I really do think she's insane but that's just her. She really does worry me at times.
History: Second Period
In History class, I came in a few minutes late because this class was in block C on the other side of the damn school and the convo I had with Rach made me late. I walk towards the back and I looked to the left and wished I didn't. Jazz is eyeing me bringing Ryan closer to her, kissing him in front of me. I roll my eyes. I don't get what she has against me.
It did disturb me that she kissed my friend in front of me but it's whatever, they're together so.
I sit in my designated seat in the back by the window and I sorta tune out. I really don't want to look in the direction of them and I have a huge headache now. I lay head down trying to block out some of the light.
A couple minutes pass and my phone vibrates in my pocket. I pull it out and hide it from under my desk. I received a new text message.
Ryan: Hey are you ok? Read
I read it but I didn't reply. What would I even say? I'm not feeling good and sorta sad but I don't know why. Definitely not telling him that.
Ryan: Mikey what's wrong? Read
I have to give him some sort of response or he'll bug me all day.
Michael: I have a headache. Read
Ryan: Did you eat something? Read
1s Ago
Oh shoot I forgot to eat something. I guess that explains my headache. I finally look up a him and I didn't expect him to already be looking at me. He seemed concerned. Jazz poked him so he put his attention back on her so I focused on what the teacher was saying choosing not to reply back.
We were learning about the English settlers and stuff. Couldn't really focus much, I'm just glad this class was over so I can go to lunch. I quickly leave because I really don't want to be lectured by Ryan again like this morning. I placed my things in my locker and headed to the cafeteria.
I got in line and picked out all the things I wanted to eat. I was about to grab the slice of cake and that's when I heard my sister from behind me. "Huh, you're seriously gonna eat cake? Aren't you fat enough Michael." It was more of a statement then a question so I stayed quiet. I didn't grab the cake, I paid for my food and left.
I met up with my friend Phil at the lunch table. I like to hangout with my football friends at lunch, they are one crazy group. One minute we'd be talking about football or drama, then the next we'd somehow get on the topic of do cats fart? Then Jax would do something stupid and have the whole table laughing getting us shushed by lunch monitors.
It's always just the 6 of us Phil, Jax, me, Cameron, Alex, and Dustin. Ryan doesn't sit with us at lunch. He says it's because he will see us anyways at practice but I just think it's because he wants to to sit with Jazz. Which makes sense I guess. I began eating while the others chatted among themselves.
I started thinking about what I'm gonna do when I graduate. My father wants to force my way into the army but I don't want to go. What I really want to do Is coach kids in little leagues, but my dad said that's not a valid career. He said it wouldn't bring honor to the family because almost every male in my family joined the military fields at least once. I sigh. I'm such a disappointment.
At PE: Third Period
Why does our PE have to be scheduled right after lunch? That's such a unlucky time for me and why do we have to start with laps after stretches!?
I head to the boys locker room and open my locker. Only the football team gets designated lockers. Others students get cubby holes to place there things in.
I sigh and open it grabbing my PE clothes. I take my shirt off and I see someone standing beside me in my peripheral. I already know who it is. "Hey are you okay?" Ryan questions.
I turn around and he's topless. I try not to look, but he's there and he's super close to me. He bit his bottom lip scanning my body and I blushed trying to hurry and put my shirt on. "I'm alright."
He looks at me in disbelief. "I don't believe you, just tell me Mikey." Bruh, I seriously can't take him seriously because he has no shirt on.
He starts to put his shirt on and I pull my pants down to put my basketball shorts on. I turn away because I'm starting to feel self conscious. It's just us in the locker room now.
I start to walk towards the door and he grabs my wrist and pulls me back. "I'm serious Michael, what is it?" I look down and he pulls my chin up so I'm forced to look at him.
I didn't know what to say because I'm unsure why I feel this way about him so I had to say something else. "I'm thinking of breaking things off with Rachelle." I was genuine it wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the real reason I wanted him to know.
He was quiet for a moment and new I was being genuine. "It's okay Rachelle's chill, she would understand."
We both walked out and started running our laps. I suddenly got a burst of energy and was able to out run Ryan a bit.
