You only appreciate
what you've lost
You lose
what you didn't care for
You didn't care
until you realized you needed it
You needed it
because of the feeling it gave you
You felt that feeling,
but didn't care if it felt the same
You denied
that it was anything special
You ignored
whenever it warned you
You never bothered
to acknowledge its cries
You never cared
until all fell to an empty silence
You grew lonely
and wondered why
You looked around
but it was gone
You didn't care for it,
so finally, it left.
Because you only ever appreciate
what you never gave a second thought before.
