DAISY BURKE HAS ALWAYS BEEN DELICATE. By delicate, she means the fact that the very moment she was told at the age of five that she would have FRDA for the rest of her life. Friedrich's ataxia, in a nutshell, means that it is an autosomal-recessive genetic disease that causes difficulty walking, a loss of sensation in the arms and legs, and impaired speech that worsens over time. She has always been an oddball in her family that is made up of redheads, even if she wasn't sick. Daisy's father and Oscorp scientist, Edward (Eddie), has dedicated his life to finding a cure or at least a medication that could eliminate half of the disease so his child could walk and talk better. So far, he has found nothing, but he hopes that his work with Dr. Curt Connors would pay off. Turns out, FRDA runs in the family. Daisy's great grandmother also had the disease at one point of her life. That's all that Edward could find.

Edward's wife and mother to Daisy and her older sister, Melanie, Teresa works at Midtown Science and Technology High School as one of the guidance counselors, while maintaining watchful eyes for her young wheelchair-bound daughter. Meanwhile, the eldest Burke daughter, Melanie works at the Daily Bugle and attends classes at Empire State University. As Daisy would say, she is more beautiful than her and has kept more boyfriends than Daisy (sadly, Daisy hasn't had any boyfriends). The two Burke daughters are close but not as close as Daisy wished they would be. Though they did care for each other when either of them got hurt. Physically or emotionally.

That's the thing about the Burke daughters. Classmates of Mel and Daisy would think they are almost fraternal twins (only because of the hair color). Daisy didn’t know what her plans were in her life. For the most part of Daisy’s childhood, she figured she would make a great scientist like her father. But Resa Burke always had her cautions.

At six years old, Daisy would notice her bigger and much stronger sister walking without a wheelchair. Daisy would watch her sister endlessly all day as Melanie ran around Central Park freely. Daisy━who had two missing front teeth and a short haircut at the time━wanted so bad to get out of her wheelchair and walk. Daisy got a feeling in her small stomach, it wasn’t the fact that she was feeling sick, it wasn’t the feeling of tiredness, it was a feeling of courage. Young Daisy grabbed a hold of the armrests of her wheelchair and pushed herself up. Her grip tightened as she lifted her small foot off the wheelchair footrest. Daisy’s grip loosened when she took a small step but lost her balance and came in contact with the pavement. Edward and Resa were watching their young daughter and it only took Resa two to become that overprotective mother and wanted to rush in and save her child from falling.

“Resa don’t. Let her do it.” Eddie had told his wife and held her by her arm. Young Daisy slowly pulled herself up off the ground, swiping away all dirt off her clothes. Young Daisy was determined to walk. She got up and without her walker, she took that first step. And then another, and another.

Daisy Burke’s life changes once again at ten years old when after a long day at Oscorp, Edward Burke came home and surprised Daisy━who was experiencing her first stage of puberty━with her first paint set. Daisy had spent everyday painting, even going out by herself to restock her run out paints. For a long time, Daisy knew she wanted to be like her father, a great scientist, but as soon as she noticed how amazing her art work was, she knew she truly wanted to be an artist. And she knew that nothing else could replace that. But Daisy was wrong again.

Because at the age of thirteen, Daisy sat in her math class during a presentation about exploring career paths. For a long time, she always knew what she wanted to do in life. But as she listened to the guest speaker, her words leaking into her brain, she realised that after spending every day in her life at the hospital, bonding with patients like herself, she knew now what she truly wanted. Watching her father and Dr. Connors working together to make this cruel world they live in a better, safer place to live made Daisy want the same thing for herself. And spending 24/7 at the hospital helped her finally realise that she had another passion, for being a doctor. “ Dr. Daisy Marjourie Burke. A doctor.” is what Edward Burke told his young daughter when she came home.

a/n: ugh I just love this prelude. How was it? Did I describe it good enough? I absolutely love this new fan fiction and I can't wait to start the first chapter and dive into Daisy's life. As know, the FRDA causes problems with Daisy's walking and speech so she will be mentioned (sometimes) in a wheelchair and I will have to try my best to create her dialogue the way people who have FRDA speak. Don't hate me or post hate. I am trying my best. Anyways, thank you for reading my fan fiction. Love you all lots.

 Love you all lots
