-KAIYA-

Briana lives on the edge of town thats why my father insisted on driving me himself than letting me ride my bike. Claire is much more cheery than usual confirming mine and Brianas growing suspicion that theres something going on that we dont know of. Bri joked that it could be drugs where I declared that for impossible because she hates all illegal drugs like her life depends on it, not without reason though.

"You wont believe what happened to me yesterday. I met the perfect person for Kaiya. Hes kind and handsome and likes videogames as much as you do." Claire, my brunette friend, commented as Bri hinted that she might be the one in love avoiding the topic.

"Thanks, but Im good. And first of all its not a sin to like videogames. Its my way of taking my mind off things." I elaborate politely declining her next offer that probably included setting me up with him.

"Don't you want a boyfriend sometime?" Claire one of my closest friends asked as response to my decline.

"No, actually I want to focus on myself first and if I fall passionately and deeply in love then I'll consider committing at some point." I respond truthfully.

I find it often hard to explain to people that I want desire and passion and love that stings a little but is worth walking through hell for. Some might say it's self-destructive, I say it's feeling life's deepest truth. Happiness is not the standard, pain is. It has to rain to make us appreciate the sun tingling on our bare skin. Maybe, someday along the way you find an umbrella above your head for awhile.

"Anything going on in your glamorous love life?" I pull myself out of my thoughts teasing my petite friend. We've been sitting in a circle gossiping about people in our school. In moments like these I realize how lucky I actually am. I have loving parents that have their own issues but try their hardest to leave me out of it, I found new friends, real ones, when I thought no one will voluntarily hang out with me again.

Briana, who we call Brie to tease her because she hates the idea to be named like a cheese, grounds our little group of three, let alone her vibe is so calming that can change your attitude within seconds. Claire in outgoing, extroverted and has the gift to instantly cheer you up when youre having a bad day or week. Her clumsiness brings her in the most interesting situations and she always has a story ready to tell on her tongue.

Briana's parents are out of town celebrating their anniversary leaving the house to her and her sister who also has her own friends over. Even though we weren't drinking I had the best time. For the first time in a while I felt like I didn't have to drink to be okay.

"Maybe, I've never been one to kiss and tell." she blushes at my question about her possible romance. "Let's move on with the game." the brunette tries to get the attention off of her.

Claire suggests a round of playing truth or dare. I stub Briana in the side causing her to startle. "Sorry, uhm where was your toilet again?"

"Downstairs, go through the living room and then take a left." she elaborates pointing in the directions as if I know her house by heart which I dont. We dont usually hang out at her house because its far from mine and my father is at work most of the time so I dont have anyone to drive me.

I make my way down the spiral staircase focusing on sending a text to my father who's already asking if I am alright and when I'm going to be home again. He's worried all the time even when I'm the complete opposite of him, the pained look in his eyes and his choice of words makes me feel bad. I know how lonely the house can feel now that mum isnt there anymore.

Focusing on the stairs and my phone I didn't recognize the loud voices in the living room slowly fading as I reach the end of the staircase and wander through the living room to my destination. The group of Brianas sisters friends stare at me. I chose to not give them much attention since their clearly drunk. However, I can't help to shoot one look back, a brunette boy catches it.
