"What in the fresh fu-"

"Language (y/n)!"

You look out the small window of your mothers old Ford and up at your 'new' house as the two of you come to a stop at the curb, you grimace. Turning to your mum in the passenger seat you tell her,

"You know what? The three and a half hour drive here was just so fun! We should do it again.. right now, back the way we came!" Your mother deadpans at your antics.

"(Y/n) you should count yourself as lucky, your grandmother didn't NEED to give you a whole house to yourself, now did she? Stop your whining, you're going to love it here, just give it a chance." You take you gaze off of your mum and back towards the 'house', it IS fairly big as it's a two-story but that's about it's only appeal. This house looks at least 100 years old, the lawn is over-grown and it's just the dullest shade of grey you've ever seen... and that's just the outside.

"Mum.. if I die in here, I'm blaming you." Your mother opens her door and steps out before leaning down to peer back inside the car.

"I'll take that as an okay." Shes says, winking at you with a beaming smile, she then shuts her door and goes around to the trunk to start unpacking. You can't help but smile as well as you quickly get out to help, your mother always knew how to make you feel better. You walk over to the trunk and your mum immediately starts handing you boxes of your things to carry in before grabbing a few for herself to carry. She struts off to the house with her three boxes and you can barely keep up behind her with only two in your hands, she's a monster, you think.

"Your father already brought all of your furniture and your car down last week, your car is in the garage and I told him to set up your furniture, we'll see in a second how well he did." She laughs and when you two find yourselves at the front door she balances her boxes in one hand, leaning them against her hip as she fishes for the keys in her jacket pocket. She pulls the keys out and unlocks the door, not without a bit of difficulty first though. Moving to the side with a smile, she lets you through first. Apprehensively you take your first step through the door and immediately gasp, no matter how bad the outside looked, the inside makes up for it ten-fold. You place your boxes down at your feet as your mum closes the door behind her and stands beside you after also putting her boxes down.

"Told you you'd love it, don't even try to tell me that I'm wrong." She says, without looking at her, you silently nod which earns a chuckle from her, "I'll tell you what (y/n), I'll go get the rest of your things from the car while you have a look around, sound good?" You look at her and smile, telling her thank you as she walks back out the door, you turn back towards your new house. There is so much to look at and its all so beautiful, the detailed carvings in the pillars that keep the space wide as the light from the several windows pour into your huge lounge room and fireplace, the chandeliers, the EVERYTHING! You walk forwards towards the double doors in front of you and open them to find a magnificent kitchen with a large marble counter which is just breathtaking. The more that you explore the more you come to love this house, you also find a big bathroom, a laundry room and a storage closet downstairs, your mum can only laugh as you run around like a kid in a candy store.

You just can't wait to check out upstairs and as you make your way there you hear your mum get a phone call downstairs, every step you take up the stairs you're admiring the beautiful detailing on the handrail as you go. When you get to the top you could have sworn you had seen something out of the corner of your eye at the end of the hallway, something like a shadow but you couldn't be sure.

Glancing back down the stairs, you contemplate calling out to your mum but you can tell that she was still on that call, you didn't want to interrupt her just because of your silly imagination. You continue with your exploration, at the first door you open it to find a master bedroom with big glass sliding doors leading onto a balcony clad with vines and flowers, looking out onto a large backyard. The bedroom leads into a cute ensuite with the same marble counter as the kitchen. The next two rooms that you walk into are also bedrooms, though not as grand as the one you had just visited, which left just one door to explore inside, though there's just one small problem,
