Percy's POV

I felt like I was gonna throw up. I am only 2 months into my 3rd year and I already have detention, in one of my strongest subjects no less. It's all her fault I thought to myself, If she could have just followed my directions we wouldn't be here. What were my older brothers gonna think? What were my parents gonna think?? What if I will never be able to work at the ministry or get a good job because this is staining my permanent record??? I sat alone in Professor Snape's classroom, my mind spiraling.

"Of course you're here early," Y/n said her voice filled with annoyance as she set her stuff down on the desk next to mine.

"I'm surprised you showed up," I responded, refusing to look at her.

"I may be stupid but I'm not that irresponsible, besides with how terrible I am at potions I might as well try to get on snape's good side."

"Ha after today good luck with that" I rolled my eyes fetching my homework out of my bag.

Before she could respond Professor Snape walked into the classroom.

"I would thank you both for coming but you didn't have a choice," His monotone voice drawled out, echoing through the empty classroom.

"Miss Y/l/n, based on the events of today and your overall performance in my class so far I have made a decision, after today's detentions session you and Mr. Weasley will be meeting here every night for tutoring."
"But sir-" I protested to no avail.

"Hush Mr. Weasley, in return for tutoring Miss Y/l/n I will give you extra credit for however long this arrangement goes on." He turned to look at me seeing no response or sign of protest he continued.

"Excellent, seeing there is no problem with this arrangement you both will recreate the potion you so utterly failed today. I will return in 45 minutes, I hope not to be disappointed." With that, he left. I sighed and turned to Y/n might as well get this over with.

Y/n POV

To be honest I did feel bad for what I did, not that I would ever admit it to anyone, especially not Percy. I keep remembering his face when Snape told us we had detention, he looked so mortified. Poor kid has probably never had detention in his life. I wasn't surprised when I arrived and he was already there. What a suck-up I thought to myself while letting out some sarcastic quip before sitting down.

"I'm surprised you showed up," I heard him say. He could be such a jerk, he acted like he was so much better than me, which he was. But just in potions.

"I may be stupid but I'm not that irresponsible, besides with how terrible I am at potions I might as well try to get on snape's good side," I responded not even looking in his direction as I slumped in my seat. He said something to me that I didn't pay attention to before Snape walked in. I swear this man is so boring it's nearly impossible just to listen to his voice, I was only paying half attention until he said,

"You and Mr. Weasley will be meeting here every night for tutoring." Me and him? Every night?? I merlin's sake why? Just give me detention for the rest of the year! I heard Percy protest which surprised me since he wasn't one to talk back to a professor. Snape's monotone voice pulled me from my thoughts,

"Excellent, seeing there is no problem with this arrangement you both will recreate the potion you so utterly failed today. I will return in 45 minutes, I hope not to be disappointed." Then Snape left and Percy and I were alone. He turned to me holding what he had salvaged from his notes from class in his pale hands.

"Ok suck up let's go, boss me around, what's first," I said to Percy turning toward him looking into his brown eyes.

"um ok first get a cauldron from over there," He said pointing, "I'll set up the heating mechanism and get the ingredients, you can do that right?" I nodded ignoring his pretentious undertone. I got up from my seat to walk over to the stack of cauldrons, the scraping of my chair on the floor echoing in the uncomfortable silence that filled the classroom. I set the cauldron on the table, Percy barely even looked up from his notes as he placed it on the heating mechanism and began to add ingredients.

"I thought you were supposed to tutor me," I said as Percy continued to do whatever it was he was doing.

"We are supposed to complete the potion in 45 minutes, I'll do it and explain it to you later." He said before going back to working on the potion in silence.

"I am sorry you know, for what happened," I said, my finger absentmindedly tapping the desk as I looked at anything in the room that wasn't Percy. "You know, getting us detention"

"I know," he says, I look over at him and we make eye contact for what feels like a whole minute. "Sorry for being a jerk about it" he looks back down at the potion, "I guess we should finish the potion before Snape gets back," he said. I started laughing and Percy looked over at me in confusion.

"You said Snape, without putting the professor in front of it," I said.

"No, I didn't" Percy rushed out,

"Yes you did," I said smiling at him, "I'm rubbing off on you Weasley," I said, right as Snape walked in.

"I hope you are talking because you have completed your potion." Snape drawled,

"Yes sir," Percy said, gesturing to the lavender liquid in the cauldron.

"This potion seems to be satisfactory," Snape concluded after examining it for a little bit. "You may clean up and pack your things. I will hope to see both of you tomorrow for Miss Y/l/n's tutoring." He then went into his office and closed the door. As we packed up I caught Percy glancing over at me.

"Hey," I said, turning to him, "You're not that bad Weasley," I smiled at him before slinging my bag over my shoulder. "I'll see you tomorrow," I said before turning around and leaving him alone in the classroom, maybe I was seeing things but it looked like he was blushing.
