Aviyaa woke up at 7 am, which was a first for her. Her lectures usually started by 11 in the morning so after a night of partying, her usual wake up time was 10. All she wanted to do was crawl into a hole and die and the thought of killing herself lingered in her mind, she felt defiled, used, abused and dirty and she could already hear her aunt taunting and mocking her. The only thing she wanted to do now was cry but the tears refused to come. She heard movements from the bed across the room and noticed that Temi had woken up and was praying. She really didn't want to say anything right now because she knew that after that prayer, the interrogation will follow. "Good morning, Viyaa", Temi greeted, "Uhhm, Good morning Temi" silence hung in the air and it wasn't comfortable, after about five minutes of silence, Temi spoke "Uhhm I don't know what happened last night, but I want you to remember that I'm always here for you and when you're ready to talk I'll always be here." And with that she stood up making her way to the bathroom "Wait, I'll tell you but you have to promise you won't judge me." Even though Aviyaa knew her friend wasn't one to judge, she always had her fears and insecurities. "I promise"
"So it all started when you dropped me off at that party......................................
Aviyaa could already hear the music from a mile away she was pumped, Jide was known to throw the best parties and it was strictly by invitation. She wondered why he invited her because they never mingled but a party was a party and the fact that he personally came to deliver her invitation was enough reason for her to go, she just couldn't say no to a good party. Her best freeing had warned her not to go saying 'her spirit didn't agree with this party' but that was her best friend for you, trying to ruin her fun with her 'spirit'. They arrived at the party with Temi warning her once more to be careful, but she was an adult and was more than capable of taking care of herself
"The one and only Kaddafi don show ooo, me I think say you no go come" Jide greeted. Sometimes she wondered what was wrong with Nigerian boys, couldn't they speak normal English?? And to think they all attended a private university. "Hi Jide, nice party", "That's all you can say, I no blame you sha, na me carry my hand invite you, sha, nice dress" Aviyaa was confused, she didn't know this guy before what did he expect her to say, she hissed and walked away already needing a drink. Aviyaa was playing beer pong when she noticed the fool aka Jide approach her, she couldn't help but wondered what he wanted now, "Look Viyaa, I think we got off on the wrong foot and I'm really sorry, I got you your favorite drink as an apology" she took it from him before responding because she absolutely loved coke and rum "Firstly only my best friend is allowed to call me Viyaa, its Aviyaa for you and secondly, thank you for the drink" and with that she walked out of the house, his face was really irritating her. She looked at the red solo cup and smiled, he might be a butthole but he did get her a drink, something kept telling her that she shouldn't drink it but she did anyway. On her way back to the house, she felt a sudden wave of dizziness but she shook it off maybe it was the alcohol, but her alcohol tolerance was high, she didn't easily get drunk; she felt the wave of dizziness again and had to steady herself, was it the drink? She felt her eyelids drooping and felt the dizziness again, before her eyes closed she saw three figures that looked very familiar then she felt everything go black.
She woke up still dizzy and felt her head pounding, her vision was blurry and she couldn't see her surroundings clearly, she tried to move he hands but found out they were tied. Confused, she tried to move around but found out her legs were also tied, who would do this to her and why, all she remembered was her playing beer pong getting angry and Jide giving her a drink; the realization set in, Jide! The drink must have been spiked. All of a sudden she heard the doorknob move and saw three figures enter the room. Her vision was still blurry but she was able to make out Jide's figure. "What the hell is going on here, why the hell am I tied and what the hell do you want with me!" she questioned she really wasn't ready for any game he had to play and she was mentally exhausted at the moment. "You know if someone told me I'll have the Kaddafi in my room I'll have laughed at the person but look at you all tied up in my room helpless." "Let me go you creep," she screamed as he walked towards towards her with a sinister look in his eyes, the one that she remembered seeing in her uncle's eyes and that was when fear set in, this could not be happening again. She felt tears well in her eyes as her mouth was tied and she couldn't help but feel weak, when she finally thought this would never happen to her again, the universe decided to prove her wrong. 'No' she determined, she wasn't going down without a fight this time, she would prove she wasn't weak, and so with all the energy she could muster, she kicked and fought thrashing around. She managed to hit Jide on his chest but it seemed she had forgotten he had brought back up and suddenly felt drowsy once more, she succumbed to the sleep calling her knowing deep down that what happend to her 10 years ago was going to happen again.
When she woke up outside and already knew what had happened, she began to cry. She never believed this would happen to her again. At this point, she was tired; tired of the same thing happening over and over again, she was tired of being helpless, she was tired of not being able to defend herself, and she was tired of her life being like this. She cried for a while before her neighbor saw her and came to comfort her; she knew she might have done something she would regret if he didn't come. "And that's the recap of my night" Aviyaa finished with fresh tears waiting to fall "Temi I'm tired when it feels like I have a bit of peace in my life, the same shit happens. Can't I have a bit of peace" she cried while stuffing her face with Mentos. Temi hugged her as she cried, she knew Jide was a rich and snobby guy who treated girls like trash but she never thought that her best friend will fall victim to his terrible way of using and dumping girls and Aviyaa had already been through a lot from childhood. To say Temi was fuming was an understatement, the thought of castrating him kept occurring; for a chubby 5'4 lady with glasses, she packed a punch and people tried as much as possible not to cross her. She wanted to beat the living starlight out of him and that's what she was going to do.
Aviyaa was still feeling emotional but she could already see the gears running in Temi's head, and she knew that look on her face all too well and she did not want to be at the receiving end of whatsoever was going to happen soon. "I'll be right back love, try to get some rest, there's the leftover cake from my bake sale yesterday and there's Ovaltine in the cupboard. Don't do anything I wouldn't do and don't overthink" with that she hugged her best friend/sister, picked her backpack, and left. Aviyaa wasn't sure if she should be worried for Jide or glad that he was going to get a bit of what he deserved. Deciding not to overthink it, she felt herself falling asleep to the sound of birds chirping outside.
