The Prince's Mother

Chapter 1

We made it to the diner and we took a seat. We ordered our food and he told me a little about himself.

"Okay, so you're telling me that Iggy is your best friend?" I asked as I watched him pick his vegetables off of his burger.

"Yea, we have known each other for two years now. It will be three in a few months." He said softly.

"He must mean a lot to you." I said as I sent him a smile.

"He does. He's one of my only friends." Noctis exclaimed.

I nodded my head and we continued to eat. We soon finished and I looked at the time

"Well time to go." I said as I threw down some money and stood up.

"Do we have to?" He asked with a groan.

"Afraid so. If you're late Captain Drautos will have my head." I said calmly.

I led him to my car and held the door open for him. When we made it back to the castle it was 12:45 and we had fifteen minutes to be in his class. I led him inside and passed by Nyx.

"Where did you two go?" He asked playfully.

"To get something to eat." I said as I led Noct upstairs.

"And here she said she doesn't like kids." Nyx said with a laugh.

I flipped him off and led Noct to his class.

It was a pretty boring class. Mostly it was on how to show respect and how to listen to your elders.

It was a load of crap and made me want to snap at the instructor, but that wasn't my job. My job was to protect Noct, and to make sure this woman was good at her job.

"Alright, now your job as king is to make the people happy. You need them to be happy and to support your choices." The instructor said calmly.

Noctis nodded his head and the instructor continued the lesson, all while I shook my head. Soon the day was over and I was glad to have a break from Noctis.

"So how's the new job?" Nyx asked as I plopped down beside him.

"I'm going to go insane." I said as I hit my head on the table.

"He can't be that bad." Libertus said with a laugh.

"He isn't! But his schedule is crazy! This woman has him going to five different teachers! Back to back everyday! The kid can't even act like a kid!" I yelled as I rubbed the bridge of my nose.

"Well he is the prince."

"He's a little kid. He shouldn't have to deal with that." I said softly.

"He should get use to it." Luche said with a laugh.

"He should be able to have fun."

"Like we have?"

"I just think they are over working him.... that's all." I said as I let out a sigh.

"If I didn't know any better, I would think you cared about the kid." Libertus said with a smile.

"I could care less. I'm just doing my job." I said as I ordered a drink.

Morning soon came and it was time for me to pick up the prince. Around eleven I decided to take him to a diner and get him something to eat. We set down and I motioned for a waiter to come to us.

"Okay I'll take a burger and fries. Noct will have the same but plain and only cheese." I said with a smile.

They left to put it in and I leaned forward and saw Noctis playing with a napkin.

"Iggy always makes me get it with everything." Noct said softly.

"Yea I'm not gonna be that cruel, o can tell you don't like vegetables." I said softly.

"Thanks." He said softly.

"So, what do you want to do when you become King?" I asked softly.

"I don't know.. I never really thought about it." He said softly.

"Well what do you want to do if you weren't becoming king?" I asked softly.

"I don't know, I'd probably want to fish.... or maybe travel." He said softly.

"Maybe one day you can go traveling with Iggy." I said calmly.

He nodded his head and our food came out.

"Thank you." I said as I handed Noctis his plate.

"What about you? What do you want to do?" He asked as he looked up at me.

"Well I want to end this war. I want to free the people that Niflheim had captive." I said softly.

"That's a lot better than my wish." He said softly.

"Yea, well that's probably cause I haven't been stuck in a palace my whole life."

"Where did you use to live?"

"I lived on the streets for awhile.... I ran away from home at the age of fifteen.. I wanted to join the Glaives.. so I left, haven't spoken to them in years." I said softly.

I'm glad you're here." Noctis said softly.

"You know... I am too." I said before I took a bite of my burger.
