The two watch as a worker dressed in expense takes their things up to the cash register.
There they stood, in the center of a high-class clothing store. The day hadn't started out that way, but the two just couldn't seem to find what they were looking for anywhere else. And the Gala was approaching within hours.
Elizabeth nervously leans on the desk, watching their items be wrapped and hung in plastic. Her foot taps uncontrollably in her flats.
Billie notices, chuckling gently at her demeanor.
"Will this be all for you two today?" The woman behind the register smiles at Billie, her blonde hair bouncing slightly as her head nods. "Okay. That will come out to $13,565."
Elizabeth's eyes widen, watching Billie. Billie doesn't pay much attention to her, pulling her wallet out and handing over her card without facial movement.
As she takes her card from her, Billie looks over at Elizabeth. "What?" She chuckles.
Elizabeth shakes her head, staring at her feet. Not wanting to say anything in front of the cashier.
