The beginning...

Her POV:
I can't breathe. My lungs are screaming for air, but I know that if I stop they will catch me. Damn it! I look over my shoulder attempting to spot the three men chasing me. With a sharp gasp I see the cold glare of knives peeking out of their low-hanging pants. Six malicious eyes rake over my fleeing figure...planning and preparing.
Damn it! This was not how this trip was supposed to go! Sure, I wanted adventure and excitement, but being preyed on by three terrifying street men wasn't what I'd pictured. I couldn't get caught.
I put on an extra burst of speed and turned down yet another dark alley. I had no idea where I was or where I was going. "Hey, baby, just give up now. You aren't getting away from us," exclaims one of my freak-show followers. Terror shoots through my body. I could feel their thundering footsteps hitting the pavement right behind me.
My long golden hair streams behind me and I fear that at any moment a grubby hand will knot itself into my curls. Faster!
Dark doorways blur past me and somewhere above the rooftops Big Ben calls out a single, lonely bell. As I run for my life the silver pendent hanging around my neck thumps wildly against my chest, like the heartbeat I'm sure I can feel anymore. I take two sharp turns and find myself at a split. Shit...
To my right the alley continued, rising up in a steady incline, lit by flickering lamps. To my left a new path began, beginning with a set of steps downward, illuminated in moonlight. Without realizing it I was at a cross road; go the uphill battle or sprint to the bottom? Fate was about to show me a lesson I should've learned long ago--never choose what's easy.
I didn't even hesitate turning left. Black dots swarm the edges of my vision and I sway slightly. Before I can even take another step my legs collapse beneath me and send me tumbling into the street. A weak cry escapes my mouth filling the silent night with a declaration of my weakness.
The men appear around me, creeping from the shadows like the demons they are. My eyes scanned the unfamiliar streets around me for some kind of escape. However, the men surged forward and yanked me into their clutches.
No! Damn it, damn it, God I am so stupid! I kick and scream, but I can't escape. I am yanked into the cover of a disgusting alley and thrown to the ground. "I told you, bitch," one of the men growls into my ear as his finger tear at the buttons of my jeans.
"No," I screamed, tears pooling in my eyes. It wasn't supposed to be this way! I had finally escaped Hell, only to be pulled back down.
