Walker's POV:
They slept so tangled up that at first glance I wasn't sure where one of them began and another ended; his calloused hand was knotted in her golden curls, her delicate hand was draped over his bare side, his jean-clad legs were intertwined with her bare legs, and her face was buried in the nook of his neck. The pair of them slept with no guard, both of them using the other as a tether to the world they weren't quite ready to return to. I couldn't help but stare. It was the first time I'd ever seen Galen look so at ease. A flash went off beside me followed by the click of a camera shutter.
"Lilith," Peony hissed from just outside the door, "if you wake them up Galen is going to kill us!"
Farley laughed and looked at the picture displayed on Lilith's phone. "Who knew our fierce, made of stone, leader looked like such a teddy bear when he slept."
"We have to send Knox and Vanessa a picture of this," I whispered over my shoulder. Everyone quickly agreed and the picture of Galen and Rose was sent to Knox, who had been confined to his bed with several broken ribs and a broken leg two weeks prior. I felt a pang in my chest as I recalled the state both he and Rose had been found in; beaten, bloodied, and branded. They had managed to crawl nearly a mile away from the Red Castle before the pair of them fell unconscious. Had we'd not been tipped off by an unknown source, Knox and Rose may had never been found.
"What are you bloody gits laughing' bout?" groaned Galen, suddenly breaking my dark thoughts and silencing the girls' twittering laughter.
Lilith, Peony, and Farley exclaimed a suspicious, "NOTHING!" before turning from the door and fleeing back to the safety of the living room.
I gave a soft chuckle and shook my head, "If you want to untangle yourself any time soon there is breakfast in the kitchen and a letter from your father waiting to be opened. Oh, and Vanessa called looking for you too." Galen's dark brows furrowed at the mention of his father and his arm tightened around Rose's body.
"What month is it," he asked gruffly. The sound of his voice caused Rose to groan then burrow deeper into his hold, once she had stilled again he continued, "January? May?"
"April 21st," I supplied, completely aware that Galen had no reliable sense of time. I mean the man constantly lost count of the days, blurring his morning and nights together in a vibrant chaos that was his life. He would spend hours lingering in the twilights and dawns, never truly occupying the night or day. So it was no surprise that the changing months had escaped his notice.
"Wait...it's April? That means that..." his voice trailed off.
"That you're turning twenty-three in three days and that you're Mum is going to be hosting her annual Gala. Which, I may add is something we aren't permitted to miss."
Galen groaned loudly, rolled his eyes, and attempted to escape Rose's tight clutches. As he carefully pried her fingers from his torso he let out a laugh, "She's a pretty strong little thing."
"Yeah, I know. The other night she slugged me in the mouth and about took out my teeth," I responded.
"And she nearly kicked me to Tuesday," Peony added as she suddenly appeared beside me. Her appearance caused me to jump slightly but when she gave me that teasing look of hers I acted as though it hadn't happened. "Now go eat breakfast, you two. We have things to do today!"
Just like that our day began. A day that would lead us into the most surprising, mysterious, chaotic week of our lives....and that's saying something.

Okay, hello my darling readers! So I know that many of you have been waiting for an update, and I sorry I couldn't give you one sooner but I was in a place for the last month that had absolutely no internet. But, I'm back home and now I've got a plan for the next few chapters. However, to execute this plan I need to know how you guys are feeling about the characters, Galen especially. I feel like because I haven't updated regularly I've been giving you all a very crappy character development for him, and looking back Lilith and Farley's isn't that good either. But what I want to know is what YOU'RE thinking. Please tell me, because otherwise I could take this story in a confusing direction. There are going to be new characters, one of which will greatly effect the lives of the gang. There is going to be some backstories, some hierarchies, some drama. These next chapters are going to get intense, but I have to know where you guys are standing with the story so far, so please don't be a silent reader. Express your thoughts!
With that said, I hope you're all having wonderful days and great karma!
