The next morning~~You hadn't slept much that night, your thoughts racing with Loki and his strange actions last night.
He'd never shown that kind of aggression towards you.
You quietly made your breakfast, French toast and a smoothie.
Loki didn't come out of his room. He usually begged you to make him some food too.
He loved French toast, who knew right?
Drawing a deep breath for confidence, you scooped some onto a plate, pouring smoothie into a cup, making your way back to his room.
You knocked but he didn't answer.
"Loki, I have your breakfast." You felt your heart quicken, nervous, after last nights incident.
You slid the door open slowly, revealing Loki in the same exact position as last night, sitting, his face in his hands, though he was clothed now, his hair wet.
He must have already showered. You set the food on the night stand, watching him, as he stayed as still as a statue—one of the saddest statues you'd seen.
"Loki?" You slowly sank onto the bed.
"I'm sorry." He finally spoke, his voice hoarse, his words carrying a heavy weight of regret.
"F-for what?" You blinked.
"I didn't mean to scare you, last night. I...I couldn't help it."
You didn't reply. You just wanted things to return like normal. This side of Loki was so vulnerable, and miserable. It made it hard for you to keep hating him.You wanted to joke, but it felt wrong. "You didn't scare me..." you bit the inside of your cheek, a nervous habit.
He brought his face up from hands, revealing old trails of tears down his cheek, his eyes still a little puffy."What?" He croaked.
"You didn't scare me. I was...surprised, to say in the least." You chuckled lightly, hoping to lighten the mood.
It was somewhat successful as the corners of his mouth barely lifted in a small smile.
"It takes a lot more than that to scare me." You smiled.Loki's POV ~~
What on earth was happening to him.
Y/n sat a few feet away, smiling contagiously, his own lips responding in a small smile, despite the miserable night he had earlier. After y/n had left, he hadn't gone back to sleep, deciding to shower early that morning, trying to wash away the guilt that weighed him down.
He wanted to hug y/n again, her warmth had melted away the cold he had felt that night, the second he released her, it had returned.
Loki refrained, doubting she wanted him anywhere near her. She had made that abundantly clear when he moved in.Y/N's POV~~
"Are you hungry?" You asked, changing topics.
He nodded, his stomach growling in affirmation as you held the plate out to him.
Loki's eyes widened in delight as he took a bite, letting out a small hum of pleasure.
"Like it?" You chuckled, though happy he enjoyed it.
He nodded. "Thank you." He paused. "For everything."
You cocked your head, wondering what he meant, but not questioning it. "You're welcome." You shrugged, standing. "There's a smoothie there for you. I'm going grocery shopping later...if you want to come."
Loki stopped for a moment, watching you intensely before resuming his eating. "I would like to."
You moved to hide your blushing face as you walked out as nonchalantly as possible. "Ok, I'm leaving after lunch."
You didn't know much about Loki, but one thing was for sure—he wasn't as happy as he made himself appear to other people. At the store~~
Loki dressed in something casual, almost looking like a completely different person, it was no wonder no one in the store recognized him.
You tapped your pen on your list, looking up at the item you needed, which of course was on the highest shelf of that aisle.
Loki was on the other side of the cart, reading a label on some canned food. You bit your lip, not wanting to ask for help.
How can I be an independent woman if I can't reach things for myself? You squared your shoulders, holding onto the cart, stepping on the bottom part, hoisting yourself up.
Just as your fingertips touched the box, you felt the cart slide forward, hitting Loki right in his pants (if you know what I mean lol) as you stumbled down, watching in horror, the box that you had been reaching for forgotten. He coughed, grabbing himself as he bent over, his face reddening in pain.
You gasped, running to him, scanning him up and down, not sure what to do. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to! I was just trying to reach—"
He held up his hand, silencing you as your own hand hovered above his broad back.
"Are you ok?" You asked.
"Do I look like I'm ok?!" He hissed, still bent.
"Aren't you a god? Shouldn't you be able to handle pain more or something?" You knew what you were saying wasn't helping but it just slipped out.
He glared at you. "I'm a god, I'm not invincible!""Sorry." You sighed. "I am genuinely sorry, I didn't do it on purpose."
People began to stare. After a few moments, he stood tall again, slowly, and you hadn't realized just how much taller he was than you.
The top of your head just reached his shoulder.
"C-can you get that for me?" You sheepishly smiled, pointing to the box of fruit snacks that had caused this whole scene. With one final glare, he nodded, moving the cart, grabbing the box with ease, tossing it in as you moved on.
"Thanks."
"From now on just ask for help before you hit me again." He grunted, but the corners of his lips were lifted in a small grin.
"Deal." You chuckled lightly.
