This is a few weeks after your first kiss with Loki.

It had not been easy but you resisted Loki with all your might, and it had taken all your might.
You were more than grateful when a mission came up, anything to occupy your time.
Even though Loki was coming with you, it was better than sitting around at home, or trying to train with him.

"This should be simple enough, get in, retrieve stolen data, get out." Steve Rogers explained, handing you and Loki papers. "Just because it's easy, doesn't mean you can dawdle. And keep your eyes out, it could be a trick, which is why I'm sending along some of our agents as backup."
"This does seem kinda easy to be true..." you frowned. "Are you sure it isn't a trap? I mean these people basically gave you all their info and locations."
"Should it be an ambush, our agents will be enough. You'll be out before you know it." Steve assured.
"Ok..."

Time skip to arriving at missions location~

"I have a bad feeling about this..." you spoke aloud, not to anyone in particular.
Loki, who stood beside you, tensed, and maybe it was in your head, but he seemed to move slightly closer to you, straightening his shoulders.

Once in the building you split ways with Loki, each taking a handful of agents with you.
As you made your way down the hall quietly, you heard a clicking sound behind you.

You turned, not sure what to expect, but certainly not expecting to be held at gun point by your own agents.
"What the hell?" Your voice was heavy with a mix of anger and fear.
"Sorry to ask you this, but we'll need your gun." One of them pointed to your hand that held the gun aimed straight at his face. "Put it down slowly then kick it away."
You complied, jaw tight. "Cap doesn't know, does he?" It came out as more of a statement than a question, you'd never doubted his loyalty.
"No." The agent shrugged. "He's too uptight to be let in on this kind of stuff."
"Is all of SHIELD bad?" You questioned further.
He watched you for a moment before shaking his head. "This isn't an interrogation, take her to the back so we can continue with our mission."
You shot him one last glare before you felt a sharp pain in your side, electricity jolting through you as you collapsed, everything going black.

You woke, groaning, feeling cold cement against your back, though your head was propped up on something more comfortable, slowly remembering the past events.
"Y/n?" Loki's voice broke through the haze as your eyes opened fully, his face coming into view. "Are you ok?"
You pushed yourself up, turning and realizing that you had been laying on his lap. "I'm fine."
Your voice was laced with irritation, not necessarily aimed towards him, but you were frustrated with yourself for not trusting your instinct, and not insisting that more of the avengers team came.
This might have been avoided had there been more against the double agents.

Loki said nothing more, keeping his hands together, and you noticed the cuffs on his wrists.
Glancing at your own that weren't cuffed, you frowned. "Why are you cuffed and not me?"
"Power blocking cuffs." His answer was short, and he didn't look up from his hands.
"Oh."
Neither of you spoke again, and the awkwardness from before returned.
You almost wished they had killed you back in the hall instead of having to sit through this torturous silence.

Days went by, and for some reason you were both still alive, still not being told what they needed you for.
They fed you and gave you water, but a very minimal amount, and you weren't feeling your strongest. Goodness knows where the rest of the avengers were, or if they even knew what was going on. It wasn't abnormal for missions to take a couple days.
You glanced around the plain, poorly lit cell, eyes falling on Loki, who seemed to be battling with something inwardly.
You made no inquiries, stamping down your curiosity, and turning away.

"Y/n."

You jerked your head up, surprised by the pain weighing down Loki's voice. He was already looking at you. "W-what?"
"Why do you hate me so much?"

You weren't prepared for the blunt, seemingly random question that fell from his mouth.
"What?"
"I know I'm not a good person, I'm stubborn and annoying, but I thought..." he trailed off.
"...I thought we had something."
Your heart stopped, before suddenly speeding to a pace so quick, it began to physically hurt, feeling like your rib cage was about to burst.
"Loki..." you wanted nothing more than to confess how he really made you feel, but you couldn't. You couldn't do that to your family, to your father. "I can't..."
Loki's blue eyes met yours, and your heart ached to see the genuine pain etched in his brow.

If you were gonna die here the least you could do was tell him why.
"My dad...." you began, your mind flickering back to years ago, in New York. "A few years ago, my dad worked in one of the skyscrapers in New York City..."
The furrow in Loki's brow deepened in concern as he realized where this was going.
"When-when you went there...with all those aliens and their ships they...they hit his building..my dad made it out alive, but he was in a coma for months and he lost the use of almost his entire left side."
Loki was silent. Your words sinking in as his shoulders deflated. "I'm...I'm so sorry."
You could tell he was struggling with his words as he spoke, a lone tear making it's way down his cheek, dropping to his lap.
You knew what he had done was wrong, but you couldn't feel any hate for him. He just seemed so broken.
It wasn't completely excusable, but you knew he had been partially mind controlled when he made his violent attacks.

You wanted to crawl into his lap, for all of this to be over, for him to know how you feel, but you held back. If you did make it out of here, after doing something like that, you couldn't say you hated him again and leave him.
He'd been lied to and abandoned enough.
If you just distanced yourself, you would get over him, and he would move on to be with someone else, and be happier.

The gate to your cell buzzed, interrupting, several guards storming in.
Without an explanation, they jerked Loki up, pulling him out.
"Hey! Wait! Where are you taking him?!" You pushed yourself up, running after them as the gate slammed closed behind them.
"HEY!!!! OPEN THE DOOR!!!"
