You didn't pay attention to how much time was passing.
A guard would come now and then, tossing a plate of food in front of you which you ignored, your appetite completely gone.

Your hair was a mess from you raking your hands through it anxiously, you couldn't even imagine how big your eye bags were from the lack of sleep, your lips and eyes still swollen from crying.
There were so many things you would have done differently if you could. So many regrets.

Your thoughts began to fade as your eyes drifted shut, feeling your weight shift over as you collapsed against the floor, blacking out.

"Y/n! Y/n!!"
You opened your eyes with some resistance, pushing away whoever was grabbing at you.

Only when you pushed them did you notice your hands weren't cuffed anymore.
Huh?
Were you dreaming?
You turned further, coming face to face with Steve.
"Steve!" You gasped, jumping to grab him in a tight hug, tears of joy streaming down your face.
He hugged you in return, apologizing repeatedly. "I should've sent more help. I should have come. I'm sorry, Y/n. I'm so sorry."
You shook your head, refusing to let go. "It's ok. You never could've guessed that we had double agents." Your voice was shaky.
Steve grasped you tighter in reply.
"We have to move now, can you walk?"
You nodded, pulling away reluctantly, pushing at the ground to rise with him, your legs almost giving out beneath you as you stumbled.

Steve wrapped his arm around your waist, your arm over his shoulder, helping you walk.
You could see the pain and regret in his eyes as he watched you struggle, him half carrying you.

After a few minutes of moving slowly towards the door, he slid his right arm under your legs, lifting you, carrying you out.
Bodies were scattered across the hallway.
You craned your neck to glance through the window of each room, hoping that somehow Loki was there, even though you knew it wasn't possible.
"Loki..." you half whispered to Steve. "Did you find...?" You couldn't bring yourself to finish your sentence.
Steve nodded, a soft comforting smile lifting the corners of his lips.
You sniffled, burying your face in his shoulder, just as Nat came running down from one of the hallways, Wanda by her side.

At the sight of your best friend you burst into tears again.
"Y/n!" Wanda sighed deeply in relief, running towards you and giving you as much of a hug as she could with you still in Steve's arms, her already in tears as well.
"I'm so sorry." She pulled away, wiping her face, Nat giving you a hug as well, which wasn't something that happened often.
"I'm sorry too. We should have been here." She glanced down, seeming ashamed.
"It's ok." You pursed your lips, tasting salt from the tears that had fallen onto them.

"We need to go, guys, but we can talk more in the ship."
Steve carried you outside, sheltering your face from the bright sunlight that you hadn't seen for some days.
You hadn't boarded the aircraft before someone else was shouting your name, running towards you.

You recognized that accent and low voice. Loki.
You shoved away from Steve, turning, struggling to get down as the familiar silhouette of Loki ran towards you, the sun blinding you slightly but you stumbled forward nonetheless, Steve's hand on your back.

"Loki? LOKI!" You couldn't get to him fast enough, your weak legs not giving you very much speed.
Loki got to you first, wrapping his arms around your waist, crumpling to the ground with you almost in his lap, grasping desperately at his shoulders, not able to hug him tight enough.

"It's you, it's really you!" Your chest heaved with sobs, overjoyed, you held on tighter scared to lose him if you let go.
"I thought they killed you." His normally steady voice wavered.
"I thought they killed you! How...?" You pulled away just enough to study his face, your hands cupping his jaw, running your thumbs over his smooth cheeks and lips. "I missed you so much." A lone tear spilled over and down your cheek.
"I missed you too, love." The familiar nickname that he hadn't called you by in sometime warmed your heart.
He framed your face with his hands, frowning at the large bruise the decorated the right side of your face.

"What happened? Who did this?" His green eyes were filled with anger and concern, his face streaked with previously shed tears.
"It's ok, he's gone." You didn't hesitate as you leaned forward, covering his lips with your own in a needy, long overdue kiss, him returning it hungrily, your hands wrapping around his neck, moving to hug him once more after a couple seconds.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry for everything I said to you. Everyone deserves a second chance. I was wrong." You softly brushed your lips across his neck. "I'm sorry."

Before Loki could reply, someone tapped your shoulder and you let go just enough to glance up, his large hands tightening on your waist.

"I hate to interrupt this...but we have to go." Nat gestured to the jet.

You nodded, Loki picking you up before you could protest, taking you to the ship, buckling you in before sitting next to you, buckling himself and holding your hand tightly, your head resting on his broad shoulder, your arm wrapped around his.
