June and I were sitting in her living room when the door bell rang. For a moment our hearts stopped, thinking her parents came home early. But soon realized it was Jake when he started knocking and didn't stop until we opened the door.
"Jake!" June and I both yelled.
"June! Avinne!" He pulled us into a hug.
We laughed.
"Lets go get some food, now that we have a car." June said.
"What? I was excited to see what you two could cook." Jake smirked.
"I can't cook for the life of me and I don't know about Avinne, but lets goooo." She started to shove us out the front door.
"Okay, okay." Jake gave in, "C'mon."
"Yeah! SHOT GUN." June bolted out the door.
I rolled my eyes, "Lets roll." I grabbed Jakes arm and lead him out.

The weekend was a blast. We always had fun when we were at Junes. I didn't want it to come to an end, but it had to. Sunday night I packed everything up and had Jake drive me home after we said our goodbyes.
When I got home and went inside, I immediatly wanted to leave. I saw mom passed out on the couch with a beer bottle in her hand. Three other bottles sat on the coffee table. I didn't think dad leaving would affect her this much.
I carefully walked over, standing over mom. I hadn't really noticed how miserable she looked, until now. There were bags under her eyes, her looked like it hadn't been washed in days. She looked like she put on a little weight. My heart ached for her. She really loved my dad.
I sighed. I carefully and quietly began to pick up the beer bottles, ice cream pints, and popcorn bags. I threw everything away. I walked back over to where she was sprawled out on the couch. I put a blanket over her and shut off the TV.
I texted both Jake and June:
Moms a wreck.

The following week of school I couldn't find any motivation in me to get stuff done. I usually ended up finishing it, but not until last minute or late. Even if it was finished I did a horrible job on it.
Both of my best friends noticed something was up. I felt like June understood more than Jake. Jakes parents were still together. Neither of them said anything, they only made simple attempts to make me laugh.
By Friday I was drained. I wanted nothing more than to sleep forever.
The last bell had rung and I was gathering my stuff together. Two people walked up to me. I knew who the idiots were.
"This entire week you've been down." June pointed out the obvious.
"Sad Avinne is boring Avinne." Jake shurgged.
"Guys I'm sorry I've just got a lot going between my mom and school an-"
June cut me off, "That's why we've come up with a plan. Tomorrow theres this concert. It's a small band called Shortwave Wonders. I think they do like indie rock kind of music?" June looked to Jake for confermation, he nodded, "Okay well we got tickets. Whaddaya say?"
