Deku the Genius

Chapter Four: Family Day

  Izuku awoke groggily. He hadn't stayed up so late for quite a while, always sticking to his strict sleep schedule to remain in perfect working condition.

  What could have possibly been so important as to impair his ability?

  The weight on Izuku's torso answered that question.

  Izuku reached to the side and turned his alarm off. He had no idea what time it was, but switched it off anyway, just in case.

  The greenette sighed, stroking the little girl's surprisingly clean hair softly.

  Eri held on to his shirt tighter, snuggling into his chest.

  Izuku looked up, scowling at his mother who was taking pictures from the doorway.

  Inko grinned mischievously, giving Izuku a thumbs up.

  *Don't you dare share those with anyone.*

  *Evelyn is going to love this!!*

  *Mum!!*

  Inko ignored her son's pleading eyes and tiptoed away, probably to ruin Izuku's reputation further. Or as further as you could having already told every baby story there was.

  Eri chose that moment to stir, opening her crimson eyes and looking around the room.

  She looked up, straight at Izuku, her eyes wide for a moment before she remembered.

  "Good morning Eri. Did you sleep well?" He asked.

  The girl nodded, rubbing her eyes.

  "Do you want breakfast?"

  Eri nodded again, her expression neutral. Her eyes seemed happier than yesterday however, and far more trusting.

  Izuku sat up, taking the small girl with him, sitting on the edge of the bed with Eri in his lap.

  "My mother is in the other room making food for us. Do you want to meet her?"

  Eri looked up at him.

  "Was she here yesterday?" She asked quietly.

  Izuku nodded.

  "She was, but she stayed away so that she didn't scare you. Do you want to go through? My mum is really nice." He said.

  Eri hesitated for a second, but nodded quickly.

  Izuku smiled, standing up and carrying the girl in his arms, through to the dining table.

  "Morning mum." He said.

  "Good morning Izuku. Good morning Eri too!" Inko smiled.

  Eri waved shyly, keeping herself close to Izuku.

  Izuku sat at the table, placing Eri down in the chair next to him.

  The trio had breakfast, and Izuku took Eri back to his room, settling the girl in his lap while he worked at the computer.

  Izuku opened an email to Nezu, then attached the recording feed of camera G7 from yesterday.

  I apologize, but this is important. Timestamp 22:16 - 22:23. Do you know who this guy is? Context is in audio, I have the girl with me. She was in rags and had dirty bandages on her arms and legs. She has surgical scars going back years, and they only get fresher. I'd appreciate any information at all, we have already notified a detective friend and our local doctor. They can both be trusted.

  Izuku received an almost immediate reply.

  That is not someone to mess with lightly my friend. His name is Overhaul, or Kai Chisaki. He became the leader of one of the eight precepts of death a while ago. His quirk is called Overhaul, he can disassemble and reassemble things he touches at will. Please use extreme caution. I will have a few heroes alter their patrol routes to your neighborhood.
