CHAPTER 11: OPERATION ZOO

LISA POV

This will be a busy day. I went straight to my office  to prepare for my meeting. This is about the potential acquisition of a small rural bank in Jeonju. Of course, our accounting department should be there.

I cannot wait to see Jennie and give her my gift. I bought coffee and cookies this morning and I plan to give this to her as a piece offering to whatever bad thing that I've done yesterday.

As I enter my office, Jenni was already there. My early bird Jennie. A warm sensation fills my heart as I watch her scroll her phone. She seems too immerse that she did not notice that I'm already inside.

"Hey, you're early."

She was a bit startled as she suddenly stands. "Oh, sorry. I just...the earlier the better right?" She flashed her gummy smile and I swear I hear angels.

"Y-yeah. Anyway, did you already have breakfast? I bought some cookies. C'mon let's have some."

She gladly accepted my offer and started munching. I looked at her and the butterflies started to come out of my stomach. My heart started beating erratically.

"Ah, Jennie, I just want to say sorry If I did something wrong yesterday. You seemed upset with me. Please forgive, for whatever that is." I sincerely apologized while looking her in the eyes. My hands slowly reaching for her elbow.

"I-I'm sorry too Lisa. I didn't mean to snapped at you. I was just really swamped with work. You know that, with this acquisition stuff." She replied sheepishly.

I just smiled and drink my coffee. In a few minutes our CFO and Jisoo came. During our meeting, I cannot help but stare at Jennie. She was very beautiful from where I'm looking. Whenever I threw a joke, she will show her gummy smile and the butterflies in my stomach will play again, making circles.

"We'll get back to you Miss Lisa for the remaining information that we need on our next meeting." Jisoo said as we adjourned our meeting.

"We'll leave now." Said our CFO.

"Yeah, ah, Jennie, I need still need to clarify some things about the rural bank, can you please stay for a little bit?" I requests.

After Jisoo and Mr. Yu left, I called Jennie to sit on the chair near my desk.

"What are the things that you need to clarify, Lisa?"

"Ah, that. Actually, none." I slightly scratch my cheek.

"What? Then why do you asked me to stay?" She irritably asked.

"I-I just want to ask if...if you're free this weekend?"

"Free for what?"

"Free for a...you know...if you can work on Saturday?" Damn. What did I just say? Can the floor eat me now?

"Seriously, Lisa? You want me work on a weekend?" She rolled her eyes.

"No no no! What I really mean is, can you please accompany me somewhere?"

"Somewhere? Where is that somewhere?" She really look like a fuming kitten now. I took a deep breath and hold her free hand.

"Whooo..okay Jennie. I really, and I mean really, want to take you out on a date. I want to properly ask you to go with me on a date."

"Are you serious? No one will get angry?" She asked, her eyebrows making a questionable ark.

"No one. No one. I'm single and free. Sometimes wild." I whispered the last word.

"No one? Really?"

"Really, really."

"Alright then. I'll see you then."

"Oh yeah! I will pick you up at your apartment, just text me your address, okay?"

"Mmmkkay..."

JENNIE POV

As soon as I left, I messaged Yong.

🐱: Yong! She just asked me on a date. Operation Zoo is on!

🐰: Are you sure about this Jennie?

🐱: Of course, squirtle. We need to prepare. I'll stop by your house later.

🐰: Okay, I'll see you later then. Take care Jennie.

At Yong's apartment...

YONG POV

I really have a bad feeling with this Operation Zoo. My gut feel says that we should stop this as early as now. If only my stubborn cousin will listen to me.

"....Yong, are you even listening to me?" She tapped my shoulder.

"Hmm...yeah. You said that you will make her fall for you and extract information. And if you're right, then we can expose her to the world."

"Yes. Right. On Saturday, I will try to flirt a bit. She will eventually have slip of the tongue and confess everything. THAT'S IT! We could be the next Charlies angels." she said as she throw her fists in the air.

"Whatever, Jennie. Let's just hope that this is just a misunderstanding." I excused myself as I heard my phone ring, I looked at the caller and it is My Hammy. I excitedly answer my phone and I know that Jennie saw this.

"Hello."

"Hello, Yong? Is this a good time to talk?"

"Of course. I'm just having dinner with my cousin. We're almost finished." 

"I see. Oh, by the way, can I invite you tomorrow? After your shift at the coffeeshop? Can we go out for dinner?" I can hear someone squeaking at the background. Who might that be? Is is perhaps Lisa? Are they fooling around? What the heck?

"Oh, sure. No one will get angry, right? I just want to know this early if I will be in an awkward position."

"No no no! No one will get angry. I'm very much single and ready to mingle." She hurriedly explained.

"So,. Will it be a yes?"

"Yeah, sure."

"OKAY! Cannot wait to see you my mochi!" I was about to say something when she abruptly drop the call. I almost smash my head to Jennie's when I turn round.

"What did she say?" Jennie is still following me like a puppy.

"She invited me to dinner tomorrow."

"Okay, that's great! Start getting her heart, flirt a bit then confession. Don't get distracted, okay?"

"I will not be distracted. I'm just really scared of this." 

"Scared? Or you're in deep shit already? You like her already do you?"

"I do, Jennie. And spying on someone you like doesn't seem right. Why can we just ask them?"

"We cannot just ask them Yong. If Lisa is a professional conman, then we just exposed ourselves to her and to whoever she's working with. We need to stay focus, okay cousin? We're in this together, right?"

"Okay. okay." I said defeated.

I just really hope this will not hurt either of us.
