Little Black Dress (NIALL HORAN)

Party

"You look amazing Naill" I gasped.

Naill is wearing a darkblue suit with a lighter shade of blue shirt underneath and red slim tie. He looks perfect, his suit matches his eyes and his hair is styled into perfection.

"You're not yet dressed"

"I'm not coming"

"Megan, you're my date tonight"

"I can't, I have school projects to attend to. I'll wait for you at home"

"Baby, I want you to go with me"

"Naill, I'm sorry okay. Promise I won't sleep till you get back and I know you won't be home late right?"

"Yeah, I'll leave the party as soon as I can"

"Have fun"

"I'll try"

He kiss me before he left together with the boys. I'm not being a killjoy, I just think it would be much better if Naill's not bringing a girlfriend and besides they are invited, I'm not.

While waiting for a ride home, my phone starts to ring. Its an unknown number, so I cancelled it. But then the number appears again, maybe I should take this.
"Hello?"
"Meg?"
"Jake?"
"Babe, don't hangup, I just want to talk. I mean no harm. Please Meg, I need your help"
"Jake, I don't think this is a good idea. We have nothing to talk about"
"Meg, I'm serious. I need you. Can we talk?"
"We already are"
"I need to see you, I don't know if I can say this in the phone. Please Meg, I was there when you need me, you can't do this to me"
"Where are you?"
"The same place before"
"Ok, I'll see you there"

Something tells me that this is not a good idea but Jake's right. He did help me, especially with my grandma. So instead of telling the cab to go straight to my address, I'm now heading to the bar where Jake and I used to discuss business. Its really not that far but the last time I was there was when Naill found me.

Its seven o'clock but the place is already crowded. I immediately spot Jake sitting on the same place, holding a beer on hand. His smile grew when he saw me.

"Hi Meggie" he said hugging me tightly.

"I missed you, its been so long. You changed alot" he continued.

"What do you want to drink?"

"Jake, I can't stay here long. Can we talk now so I can leave?"

"Have a drink first"

"Jake.."

"Bullshit, stop acting innocent on me Meg"

"I'm not. I'm here coz you said you need my help but I guess I was wrong to even assume you need me. Look at you, you look fine. So why am I here? You need a drinking buddy?"

"They left"

"What?"

"Anabelle. She left Meg, took the kids with her. I'm alone now. I don't know what I did, I gave them everything, did illegal stuff for them but they left"

"I'm sorry"

"I don't know Meg. I'm so mad, I'm suppose to be mad but when I saw her, with another guy I can't get closer. I want to kill them but I can't Meg, you know I'm not like that"

"Jake, I don't know if I can help"

"You can. You're all I have Meg"

"Jake, its different now"

"We can be together, I'm alone, you're alone"

"I'm not, I have Naill"

"That boyband? He doesn't know anything about you. I know you, I love you"

"You what?"

"Yes, I love you Meg. I realized it when you left"

"I love Naill, he loves me. I'm sure you'll find another Anabelle"

"But Meg"

"Look Jake, you're my friend. Past is past. I can be your shoulder to cry on but just that. I’m happy with my life now, and I wish you happiness too. Its not the end of the world Jake, like me you can have a second chance"

"But I want you"

"I'm not for you, I belong to someone else"

"For now, but can we atleast be friends? See each other?"

"I don't know, I have to talk to Naill about this"

"He doesn't need to know"

"He needs to know Jake"

"Meg.."

"I'm sorry Jake, I have to go"

"Think about it Meg"

Think about it? What do I have to think about? Jake's words echoes through my mind on my way home. I'm happy with Naill, no doubt about that. But I owe Jake my life, Naill saved me from Jake but Jake saved me from the worst things life has given me. If Anabelle left, I'm sure Jake's very affected. He loves her so much but I can't sacrifice my own happiness just to take Anabelle's place. All my life my family was my priority, they're always first. I've given my whole life, my own freedom for them and I know they will be happy if this time I'll think of myself first. I told Jake we could be friends, but I myself don't believe what I said. I can't let Jake be a part of my life again, it'll be repeating history and I know how it will end. I don't want that, not anymore.

Good thing Naill's not here. I need time alone, to think things through. How can I help Jake without letting him in? How can I pay a debt that requires my life as payment? What will you do Meg?

I let the cold water run down my body, to relax my mind from everything. A quick shower won't give me answer but atleast it somehow numbs my head. I wish Naill's here to distract me from all this. I wish I was with him in that party. I wish I didn't answer that call. Slipping in his shirt and boxers, I decided to wait for him in his room. This way his scent will help me forget, the warmth of his bed assures me that Naill will help me get through this.

"Baby"

I open my eyes sleepily. Naill's already in bed with me, I can tell he just finished shower coz his hair's a little wet.

"What time is it?"

"Ten"

"How was the party?"

"Ok"

"Just ok?"

"Just ok"

His lack of word makes me a little worried but maybe he's just tired.

"We'll talk tomorrow" he said.

"Okay, goodnight Naill"

"I love you Megan, please remember that"

"I know, we'll talk tomorrow okay?"

"Yeah, goodnight"

His arm around me makes me feel safe. This day will end and we can face tomorrow together.
