Chapter 2

JAMES' POV~

"Introducing Princess Tessa and her prince, James." I said. Dad raised an eyebrow. I was carrying Tess in my arms bridal-style.

"Her prince?" Dad asked and my eyes widened. Did I let that slip? I'm going to be forced into a dad to son conversation when we get back. Dang it. I can't let her know I like her. She probably doesn't even like me like that. It just that I really, really like her. If only I had the guts to ask her out.

Suddenly Tess jumped. My arms tightened around her. "It's ok. It's just Mum and her Weasley roots." I joked looking into Tessa's eyes. Her eyes are as blue as the sky and I feel like a bird soaring in them. I heard feet on the stairs and turned around and saw Lily and Al standing there. Lily looked like her usual happy, bubbly self but Al was looking very angry with me. I think I know why.

Al has had a crush on Tess since they were 7. Unlike me, Al isn't very confident in his social skills involving girls besides Lily and our cousins. Since I have been best friends with Tess since we could remember, I will always have a better chance with her than Al will unless he becomes her very close friend. But I won't let that happen. I love her too much to let her be taken away from me without a fight.

"I see you two are comfy." Al says. His voice and gaze are like fire. I think Tess noticed the glance and got out of my arms. Dang it. I liked having her in my arms. Begin able to protect and hold her. I watched her walk into the living room. I went to follow her but Dad grabbed my arm. He wants to talk.

"Son, I know you really like her. I can tell. But I can also tell that Al really likes her too. If it comes down to it, I don't want to see you two fight over her. I-" He said but I interrupting him.

"If another guy liked mum while you guys weren't dating and you didn't know if she liked you, what would you have done?" I asked.

"I would have fought for her with my last breath. Is that how you feel about her?" He asked me.

"Yes. This is the first time I'm nervous around a girl. Tess tears down the walls I build but she puts them back up to protect me. She feels like my other half. I don't think I could live without her. She is my definition of beauty and love." I said. Wow. I can't believe I finally said that in front of someone.

"That's how I feel with your mother. Don't let her go. I'm not choosing sides between you and Al but I think you will do what you think is best for her." Dad said. And then we walked into the living room. I noticed Tess had some Floo powder in her hand.

"Ok. Who wants to go with me?" She asked. Dad was being funny and was acting like an impatient kid. He shot me a look reminding me to fight for her. She was looking at Lily and Al was ready to go with her. I made the decision to walk over to her, take the Floo powder from her, grab her hand and step into the fireplace with her. I put my around her waist and shot an angry Al a smirk. Tess leaned into my side and put her head on my chest. She comes up chin because of her height.

I threw the powder down and yelled, "Diagon Alley!" And then we went up in green flames.

TESSA'S POV~

I opened my eyes and saw the interior of Flourish and Blotts, the bookshop in Diagon Alley. My favorite place in Diagon Alley besides Florean Fortescure's Ice cream Parlour. Looking over at James his eyes excited because we get to go to Uncle George and Uncle Fred's joke store after school shopping.

"Well. We had better get out before everybody else gets here. Mum and Daddy gave me money before we left so we can go shopping in our own together." James said as we stepped out of the fireplace towards the front of the shop.

"Shouldn't we wait for Al?" I asked frowning.

"He wants to be sure to get everything correct on his supple list so he wants to go with Mum and Dad." He explained. Oh, that makes sense. Al does like things to be perfect.

As we were walking out of the store I noticed a tall redhead sticking out in the crowd. "Uncle Ron! Uncle Ron!" I yelled and he turned around.

"Tessy! My sweet angel niece. Where are your parents?" He asked hugging me.

"Us two get to shop by ourselves. Dad trusts me with Tess." James said grabbing my hand. I felt my cheeks heat up and Uncle Ron looked at my funny than realized why I was blushing. He smiled.

"Rose and Hugo are shopping with Mione. She wants to get the list perfect. I always mess it up. I'm also getting Mione a present because she always misses the kids. I'm going to get her a locket of us and the kids. Got to be off now. See you later. Don't get into any trouble you two." He said and then walked off seeing Mum and Daddy coming out of the fireplace.

"Let's go." James said squeezing my hand lightly. I didn't drop his hand. I liked having it in mine. First we went to Amanuensis Quills, then to Flourish and Blotts, and then to Potages's Cauldron Shop, then Scribbulus Writing Instruments, and then Slug and Jiggers Apothecary, and finally to the ice cream parlour.

We sat in a booth together and both ate our sundaes. I had a triple chocolate fudge sundae and James had a banana split sundae. I have a slight addiction to chocolate. Every girl does.

"Well, well. If it isn't Potter and Black." We heard a snide voice say. Looking up we saw Scorpius Malfoy, my cousin. We burst out laughing. All of us, especially Scorp. "It's always funny when we pretend to be how our parents were in their Hogwarts years." He said. We have fun pretending to be mean to each other. We are actually very close because even though he is a distant relative, he is still family.

"Have you guys finished shopping? Mum is taking me to every single store to get every thing perfect. Help me. She's calling me now. Got to go. See you later." Scorp said. He walked out of the door and into the street where his impatient mother was. We finished out ice cream.

"Want to go see Uncle Fred and Uncle George?" I asked.

"Of course. What a silly question." He said taking my hand once again. Realizing what he did he dropped my hand. I grabbed his hand again.

"Lose something?" I asked. He blushed and pulled me towards a gigantic shop with a magician putting a hat on top of his head and a bunny disappearing and reappearing every time. We walked in and our eyes adjusted to the bright lights. "Woah!"
