3rd PERSON POV
Erwin left your office that day, feeling worse than when he first went in.
He felt helpless... like there was no one who could help him.
'And the fact that...'
He thought, while he looked down at the prayer guide in his hand.
'That woman thinks her God can help me... shows just how delusional humanity has become. Sure...we used to worship the Walls... but at least we could SEE them. Heck... those Walls did more for us than 'God'... SIGH...'
He reached to get his key out of his pocket to open up his house door.
'Calm down, Erwin. You've wasted enough time today... don't waste any more by letting your emotions get the best of you. You just have to face it...'
Erwin opened the door, but froze before going inside.
Gazing over to the large trash cans, he threw the prayer guide a few feet away and into the can.
'Levi was right. Nothing can be done to help us...'
TIMESKIP (a few days later)
"Plaugh! Erwin, what is that smell??"
Erwin's eyebrows raised as he heard his female friend yowle about the awful smell; this was a surprise as Levi hadn't said anything about it.
"Levi's therapist recommended some cigars to calm his nerves and help him cure his insomnia. The herb he smokes is fine when boiled... but, as you can smell, when burnt... it's almost as bad as a rotten corpse. He threw it in my trash after stomping it out... and it's left a smell."
He looked over to the short, ravenette man.
Erwin's two, old comrades had been visiting that morning.
All three of them had spent many years together leading the Survey Corps... and it was still odd at how they, now, had the chance to sit together as...friends... and watch a movie on the television.
It had no sound on it since televisions were still a work-in-progress and only the rich could afford them. But, since Erwin was a real hero and saved humanity, he had been given one.
The woman flipped out...
"What the he- can't you smell it, Levi?? And didn't you stop seeing that therapist after you sent him to the hospital for ripping you off?"
"Of course I can, Hanji! I'm the one breathing it in! And I have! But that bastard has got me hooked onto it, I shake horribly after so many hours of not having it. Therapists are useless..."
The two ex soldiers looked at the magic box in silence, Hanji blocking her nose and trying not to gag.
Erwin seemed distracted though...
Upon Levi's statement on how useless therapists are, Erwin suddenly started remembering Anirac's words.
What she had said about him...
How, some of the things he spoke to her about... she completed saying before he could.
How could she have done that?
Guessed what was in his head?
'Agh... you're thinking too much, Erwin. Just get some fresh air.'
"I'll take out the trash, then. Save you from throwing up everywhere and having Levi beat you in the head. He may be 58... but he's still an Ackerman."
"Damn right..." Hanji chuckled lowly.
As Erwin neared the door, Levi called out to him.
"We'll save a beer for ya!"
Although that would sound appealing and tempting to the blond man... he couldn't help but clench his stomach and throat at the sound of it.
...
...
...
In silence, Erwin steps outside and walks a few feet over to the bins.
He took the first bin by the handle and pushed it onto it's wheels so he could roll it to the road and leave for the trucks to collect.
But, as soon as Erwin moved the large, plastic, garbage container... he noticed something on the ground.
It was the prayer guide.
He stared wide eyed at it... had he missed the bin?
He tried to ignore it and throw it in the bin, but as he picked it up (though his vision was blurry) he was in shock to see what page the book was on.
He saw the title read...
"Prayer for deliverance and freedom."
Now, Erwin had forgotten all about the trash and walked into the house, eyes glued to the small book.
Silently, he sat down and read while his friends watched the quiet television.
It wasn't until a few moments later that the two realised that Erwin wasn't laughing with them at the funny, falling man on the television.
Levi found it most peculiar and looked over to see what Erwin was doing... when he looked... he didn't know what to say.
One thing was for sure... Levi felt like something had shut him up and he couldn't resist it.
He couldn't tell what it was... perhaps his habit of having to read over Erwin's shoulder from all the years they worked together.
Whatever it was, he knew it was strong, for Hanji was found doing the same thing a few seconds later.
Mere moments later, the house was dead silent... the world around the three ex soldiers was dead... and the only thing they could notice was how the smell of Levi's cigar had suddenly vanished.
TIMESKIP (again)
Once again, some time had passed... but... something was different within Mister Smith's home.
The house was silent, the only sound being the ticking clock on the wall and the sound of the small radio playing some gentle piano music.
The curtains were open, and the sun-rays had been shining beautifully and enchantingly through the house.
Not a single bottle of beer could be seen.
And on the couch was the blind-ish, blond man... sitting with his eyes fixed on the wall of his home.
Erwin had been silent all morning... but his mind had been louder than most days.
For his thoughts were rolling and rumbling.
For, now... Erwin had been putting something to the test out of curiosity...
And his final words in his mind sounded.
'...A...Amen.'
As Erwin sighed, relaxing his mind from thinking up a prayer from his heart to see what would happen...
