too young to be this sad

in front of the television

brown eyes fixated on a blue screen

possessing a tunnel vision

bloodshot from the endless hours

comparing myself

diving into uncharted territories

i'm addicted to a pixelated hell

where the filters cure like medicine

without them it's a bed of sins

i turn on the news

anticipating happy faces and sunflowers

but instead

sirens and tears and fears and fire

been invested in unrealistic expectations

too young to be this scared

so caught up in a web full of hoaxes

too young to be this mad

said things i never meant to say then

too young to be this mean

spent too many nights on bathroom floors

too young

to be this sad
