Asteria
***
Another two weeks have passed, and I still had yet to hear from Dream.
We hadn't spoken since I talked to him during our sparring match. As sad as it made me, I couldn't bring myself to force down the slight relief that came with his absence. Although my best friend was no longer happy with me, I didn't have to endure his unwanted affection that I wasn't comfortable with anymore.
Most of my time was spent with Sam instead. He took frequent breaks to hang out with me, and today was no different. He swore under his breath, muttering "64 blocks of diamond...64 blocks of diamond..." to remind himself why he still pursued this, before he inevitably gave up a few minutes later.
He was pissed when I told him.
"How did it go?" Sam asked, as we sat across from each other at my small kitchen table. He greedily ate the sandwich he packed for lunch.
"Well..."
His attention shifted from his sandwich to me, "I don't like the sound of that."
"He kind of, uh..." I was at a loss for words, "touched me more? But then I kind of threatened to kill him."
"Dream touched you? More? What did he do? I'll kill him." Sam's sandwich was long forgotten, and his eyes were on me.
I shrugged, "He just was tracing over my whole body, I guess. I don't know why I didn't move. I should have."
Sam's hands reached across the table to grasp mine, "No, no, Asteria it's not your fault. You thought he was your friend."
"He is, isn't he?"
"Not when he does that. Did he do anything else?"
"He sort of...put his hand under my shirt." I choked, not liking to reminisce over it.
Sam swore, something he didn't often do, "Hey, it'll be okay. He can't hurt you any more."
I nodded, not wanting to cry in front of him.
"Alright," Sam stated suddenly bringing me from my thoughts, "lunch break before I go crazy."
I laughed and looked up from my book. I was lazily draped across a lawn chair I set up to keep Sam entertained and myself comfortable. After bookmarking the novel to keep my place, I stood up and stretched, seeing as I hadn't moved in a few hours.
Sam inspected my book, "You just started that today, and you're already almost done?"
"It's a good book." I explained.
"What's it about?"
I grinned, "A cold case murder in a small town."
"Violent much?"
"Slightly."
We walked mostly in silence the rest of the way to my house, which wasn't far. My house had become our main spot to hang out, because being at the prison all the time could drain someone emotionally pretty easily. I also always had food, and Sam was always hungry, so it was a perfect mix. On the way to my house, though, it began to rain.
"Hey," Sam hummed, "you've never been to my house."
"That's true."
"Would you like to?"
I smiled, "At least take me out to dinner before you want to get in my pants, Samuel."
He rolled his eyes, and pulled me into him, "If I feed you there, does it count?"
