Why did I agree to be the warden of this hell?
Of course, I built it and I was a couple hundred diamonds richer from it but the amount of stress and negativity that came from that place alone was enough to make me throw it all away. Maintaining a serious composure at all times was just about impossible - especially when Tommy would visit. His stupid jokes made it difficult not to laugh.
It made it better coming home, though. Asteria and I had moved in together, and now my house was completely changed. Before it was mostly white, but she criticized that color choice heavily, claiming "it's too bland for a person like yourself". So now there were paintings all over the wall, my cabinets and counters had all new moderate colors, and the whole house seemed all around more like a home.
She gets me through my day. Even when she's not here. All my memories or her do. Thinking of her laughing, of her sleeping in bed next to me, or occasionally her on her knees in front of me with my hand in her hair.
I notice myself start to smile, and then force a neutral face once again.
"What's got you all smiley then?" Tommy asked.
"Eyes ahead." I mumbled, trying to remain stern.
"Got a girlfriend do you? I have many of those. Wives too. They call me the wifehaver."
I ignored him this time. Asteria and I haven't necessarily hidden our relationship but we're not open about it, so it made sense that he didn't pick up on it.
"Walk forward, and walk through that corridor for one final scan."
"This feels a bit demeaning, Samuel."
"Just do it."
He went through the rest of security, never failing to make some snarky comments as he did so. It had been a while since Dream was put in prison, and Tommy was visiting for the first time in order to gloat. Dream was going to be ecstatic.
"Is he going to be able to hurt me, Sam?" he asked suddenly.
I paused for a moment, turning to him, "No, Tommy. I'm here if he tries to do anything."
He nodded, "Okay. I'm all ready, then."
The lava lowered entirely just moments later, revealing Dream's cell and the smile that grew on his face. His mask was long forgotten - I had seen his face and so would anyone else that bothered to visit him.
"The platform will be moving across the remaining lava, so make sure you move with it." I instructed Tommy, pulling a few levels to activate the platform.
He gave me a shaky nod, and then did as I said. Making his way towards the man who tormented, whether emotionally or physically, the entire server.

"Tommy." Dream sighed as soon as the boy got there. Tommy turned around to see the lava already falling back in place, and Sam watching sternly from the other side.
"Hi Dream." Tommy put on a cocky facade, "how's life in prison going? How's it feel bein' caught?"
Dream shrugged, "It's fun here. I watch the clock. Sometimes I throw it in the lava so he has to come get me a new one. I've got lots of books here as well, but I haven't written in any of them." He showed off his small confinement to the boy.
"That's a funny word..." Tommy mumbled, "if you, you know, take the L out of the world clock, then you get a funny word."
Dream chuckled, "Now, that's the Tommy I know."
