Chapter 1: Past

Third Person POV

Colleen Holt ran as fast as she could. She could see the dark figure chasing after her out of the corner of her eye. She was drenched in rain, doing her best to keep the bundle in her arms dry. The dark figure chased her through the streets as she ran to the drop point. Colleen didn't care what happened to her as long as the bundle was safe. Soon she reached the drop point, making sure the figure didn't see her hand the bundle away to a random man. The man hid and waited for the dark figure to leave before running straight to the Holt house. Upon arriving he rang the doorbell then hid in the bushes out front. Mr Holt answered the door to find the little bundle on the ground. He scopped it up and brought inside. The man then left and pretended as if nothing happened.

Time Skip: 4 Years Later

Lance McClain was playing in the garden of the Holt house. He had lived there for 4 years now with his step father Samuel, his half brother Matt, and his half sister Katie. Katie walked outside and joined Lance in the garden. "What are you doing Lance?" she asked him. Even for a 4 year old, she was extremely smart, just like the rest of her family. Lance was smart too, though nothing compared to his family's level of intelligence. "I making the leaves float!" He smiled at her and showed her. He waved his hand over a leaf and it started moving it around, directing the leaf with his hand. "Can I try?" Katie eagerly asked. "Sure!" Lance sent the leaf her way. Instead of making it float, it landed in her hands. She got sad and Lance came over and patted her head. "Don't worry! I'm sure you'll get it! Let's try again!" She smiled and agreed. They attempted it 3 more times before she got it. They played like that for a bit, sending some leaves back and forth to each other. Then Matt got home from the Galaxy Garrison. Since they lived fairly close, and his dad came home often, Matt was allowed to go home, too. The 2 of them ran inside to great Matt and show him what they learned. "Hey you two! What's going on?" he asked. "We learned a cool trick!" Katie exclaimed. "And what trick would that be?" "Let's show him!" Lance said, running to grab a leaf. Then he made it float to Katie and she made it float to Matt. Matt caught it and sent it back to Lance as the 2 children stared in shock. "You can do it too?" Katie asked. "I can. But you can't tell anyone, it's not safe," Matt told them, getting serious. "Why not?" the ever curious duo asked. "Because bad people may want to do bad things to you. Now not everyone is bad, but they may accidentally do something that gets you caught. Please don't ever tell anyone about your powers. If you agree, I'll teach you more stuff. How does that sound?" They jumped for joy at Matt's words. If not telling anyone meant they would get to do more with their powers, they were all for it. That day, Matt taught them control and a couple tricks, including teleportation, how to sense what the other is feeling, and much more. A few months later, Lance was sent to live in foster care, since Samuel wasn't his legal guardian and he was just there until they found him a foster family. They said goodbye and kept in touch for a while until life got busy and they stopped talking.

Time Skip: 10 Years Later

After spending what small amount of time he did with Pidge, Lance felt he knew him, or "her" in this case, from somewhere, but couldn't place his finger on it. Katie thought that Lance may be her half brother, but was too concerned on finding her brother and father who had disappeared on the Kerberos mission. The 2 never talked much, unless it was for their class stuff in the Garrison. Hunk did his best to bring them together, but his efforts were futile. As time went by, Lance's powers were getting harder to control. He was struggling much more than Matt or Katie ever had with theirs. This was because Lance was a purebred, while Katie and Matt were halfbloods. Lance almost blew up his room one night because of a nightmare. Several months passed with no word on the crew of the Kerberos mission and Lance and Katie were very worried, then they and and Hunk found Shiro, reunited with Keith, flew into space with a blue lion, met Alteans, and formed Voltron. Everything was going pretty good for them until...

Hope you enjoyed the first chapter of my first Voltron fanfic! Warning, everything from the next chapter on will be completely different from the actually story line, and they never go to the Balmera, they just travel to another part the world they are on now and pick up their secret spare crystal. It only took long because of the different booby-traps they had to pass to get it. If you have a problem with that, fuck off. Also, Keith will find out about his Galra side differently.
