Chapter 2: A Girl?!

Lance's POV

We're about to take off to go search the universe for planets that may be ruled by Zarkon when Pidge stands up. He seems very nervous and is shaking slightly. "Guys, there's something I need to tell you. This may change the way you think about me, but as my team members, I feel you should know this. I'm not actually a man. I'm a girl." When she finishes, everyone supports her by saying either they knew or had suspicions. I mean, I did too, but that confirmed my other suspicion. That she was Katie Holt. She had said earlier that her father and brother had been on the Kerberos mission, so I was thinking maybe that 2 of the members were a father and brother figure to her, not her actual, biological family. I stared at her and she had definitely noticed. She turned to face me. "Lance?" Her voice was surprised and worried. I start shaking and it's getting hard to breath. "Lance, buddy, you okay?" Hunk places his hand on my shoulder. "Yeah," I respond. "Yeah." My eyelids feel heavy. "Nope," I say as I pass out on the floor.

Katie's POV

 Hunk caught Lance after he fell unconscious. "Is he okay?" Shiro asks Hunk, who is checking his pulse. I can feel his health go back to normal. "He's just asleep. It was probably stress, so we should still check him out in the medbay," I respond. Their eyes fall to me. "How do you know? I haven't finish checking his vitals yet," Hunks says with concern. "His breathing evened out. You can see it," I reply, hoping they buy it. Fortunately, only Keith doesn't. "Let's take him to medbay like Pidge said so she can check him out," Shiro ordered. We did as we were told. Once Hunk had laid Lance down, I made them all leave so I could "check him out". Once they left, I waved my hand over his face and he awoke. He flew up scaring me off my chair. "What the hell Lance!" I whispered yelled at him, knowing at least one of them was spying outside the door. "What happened?" he asked. "You passed out after I told everyone I was a girl," I nonchalantly replied. "Katie, why didn't you tell me?" I froze. "What did you just call me?" I asked. "Katie," he responded firmly. How the hell did he know my name? Wait... His name is Lance and he is a 17 year old Cuban teen. I have a half brother who's name is Lance and should be a 17 year old Cuban teen. "Lance? Is that you?" I said after a while. "Yeah it's me," he said. I hugged him tightly, crying a little. He hugged back and patted my head. "No crying Katie Cat. Please?" I stared at him with wide eyes. "You remember my nickname?" He laughed. "Of course I remember the cutest nickname ever!" I rolled my eyes and giggled. He laughed, too. When we finally pulled ourselves together, I sat on the bed next to him. "So why'd you pass out? The realization of me being your half sister Katie Holt shouldn't have been stress and shock to cause you to pass out. Is everything alright?" His eyes wandered to the floor, not wanting to meet mine. After a few minutes, he spoke up. "It's my powers. I can barely control them. They're much stronger than Matt's were, even though he was older than I am now when he showed us his full power. I almost destroyed our dorm one night because of a nightmare. It wasn't even that bad! Then, when I got out of the healing pod, things just got worse. I could feel my powers slipping from my grasp just from finding out you were Katie. Luckily I passed out," he took a deep breath and I rubbed circles on his hand. I could easily control mine, so I don't know why his are like that. "Why don't I run some tests to maybe find the answer. Until then, you're free to go. And be careful. I'll meet you later when I find an answer. Also, please lie about why we took so long please and telepathically tell it to me," he nodded and left me to do my work.

Time Skip: 2 Hours

I was looking over Lance's bloodwork when Shiro came in. I didn't notice him and was writing down the different reasons for Lance's powers to be so strong. After he got semi-close to me, I finally sensed his presence and spun around. I had scared him really badly and he looked like he was having a heart attack. "Katie! You scared the hell out of me!" he said, his voice shaky and laced with concern. "Sorry! Are you okay?" I felt really awful. Shiro and I are extremely close and have been for a long time, especially since he's been dating Matt since he broke up with Adam. "I'm fine," he replied after recovering. "I came to tell you Hunk finished dinner." "Thanks! I'm just going to finish this up. It's Lance's 'prescription', which is rest and relaxation." I smiled at him and he smiled back. "Alright, just don't take too long." And with that he left for dinner. I hate lying but it's for my own good.
