Chapter 11: Escape

Third Person POV

Lance sits on the floor and meditates. He thinks about Katie and Matt and how he wants them to find Keith and himself. He thinks about sending out a signal specifically for them. And all Keith can do is watch his lover sitting on the floor in their cell, glowing brighter than a searchlight and hope that Lance knows what he's doing.

Faraway, Katie suddenly jolts upright, scaring Hunk. He'd fallen asleep on the couch with her after covering her at four in the morning cause she was cold. She runs over to the control room, Hunk in tow, and begins to do something with the map.

Shiro, Matt, Allura, and Coran are sitting in the dining room having breakfast when Matt randomly jumps out of his chair and starts running. After they get over their shock, they jump up and follow him. He soon arrives at the control, just as Katie finishes up.

"It suddenly came to me that I was looking in the wrong places. He's not hiding like I originally thought. I think he's at one of his base camps rebuilding his fleet. We did a number on them while trying to get Lance and Keith after discovering they were captured," Katie explains.

Everyone, except Matt, stares at Katie like she had gone crazy. "Everyone get ready for battle because I'm already prepping the ship for a wormhole jump," she orders. Then everyone scrambles to get their gear on.

"They received it!" Lance exclaims. "Katie sent back pulses in code that mean they'll be here in about fourteen minutes." "Now we just need to bust out of this hellhole," Keith mutters. "How about we switch places?" Lance smirks.

"Guards! Someone! I think he's sick!" Keith exclaims. The guards enters the cell and looks down at Lance. "He's running a fever and he's hallucinating!" Lance rolls into the guards and touches the sides of their faces.

Suddenly Lance and Keith and the guards switch appearances. Then, Keith and Lance, disguised as the guards, cuff the actual Galran guards to the wall and lock the cell behind them. "Now's our chance. Let's go," Keith says.

They rush down the hall to where Krolia said the escape pod would be. "Found it!" Lance exclaims. He points at a weird shape in the wall. He takes Keith's hand and presses it against the weird shape. Suddenly, the door opens and they are faced with Zarkon's high tech escape pod.

"How much time has it been and how much do we have?" Keith asks. "It's been about ten minutes, and we have about twenty minutes until Haggar comes for our punishment," Lance replies, shuddering at the last bit. 

The rest of Team Voltron pulls through the wormhole and begins their approach on Zarkon's upgraded fleet. "I said he was building more ships!" Katie exclaims. She only knew because of Lance, but she'd have to explain how he was able to let her know that.

"Great guess Pidge," Coran states. "Thanks, now let's go save Lance and Keith," she says. Everyone hops in their lions, or the lions they are borrowing, and heads out to face the new and improved Galran fleet.

Keith is struggling to start Zarkon's escape pod. "Hurry Keith," Lance whispers. "We have three more minutes until Haggar reaches our former cell." "Why don't you help me?" Keith quietly snarks. "I can't touch anything, remember?" Lance spits back in a hushed voice.

Keith looks at him with begging eyes. Lance sighs and smiles at him. "Fine," Lance says. "I'll put my two sense in." He looks around with glowing eyes until his gaze lands on something. Keith follows his gaze. There's a small, black flat surface, just large enough to fit Zarkon's finger.

Keith and Lance look at each. "It can't be that easy," Keith mumbles. He goes Galra, then he places his thumb on the scanner. Suddenly, the escape pod roars to life. "I think it can," Lance states. "And with not a moment to spare. Now get us out of here!" Keith grabs what he thinks are the controls and takes off.
