Moonlight Transformation: The Story of Luke

Chapter 7

I jolted out of the water, gasping for air. I was still in the tub and everything looked normal.

'Just a dream... Just a dream... A dream of Silva. ' I mumbled in my head. I flexed my webbed toes and clenched my hands. But why did it feel so real... She tried to drown me!

"Ugh, what time is it." I sighed and heard footsteps coming upstairs. I didn't want to take the chance of it being Sofia, I quickly grabbed the curtain and pulled as much I could to conceal myself.

"Luke?" My father's voice thundered softly
"Thank god it's you." I signed and smiled
My father entered with a small try of food.
"How you feeling today?" he asked

"Still a fish in the tub... Wheres Sofia?" I asked sitting up
He placed the tray on the floor next to me, serving me a bowl of soup, with crackers
"She's still at a friend's house..." he said

"I thought something simple would be easier for you to eat." he said shrugging

I smiled and took a cracker

"I had the most awful dream... I dreamed that I left the house and went to the beach." I chuckled.
My father's eyes got big
"You don't remember anything from last night?" he asked leaning against the wall
I froze, swallowing the dry cracker
"What do you mean... I was sleeping here." I stuttered, "wasn't I?"
"Luke, I found you sleepwalking to the beach... You went under the water...or something dragged you under. " my father said seriously.

"Silva! Stop it!" I cried, trying to resurface. I held my breath for as long as I could. I coughed and sucked in sea water
Silva didn't seem to care, she kept me under.
"Stop being such a merbaby." she chuckled.
"Luke! Come back!" a voice yelled.
Silva gasped looking up
Luke's father drove to the beach and ran out to shore
"Give him back! Don't take him! Please! " Daniel pleaded.
"Dad...." I gurgled and bubbles came out of my mouth
Silva glared at Daniel and dove under, letting me go.
Suddenly, I no longer felt suffocation. Touching my neck, I felt slits, and they moved, allowing me to breathe.
I gasped and swam to the surface.

"It wasn't a dream! I saw Silva! She's like me dad! I don't understand why I keep dreaming of her." I cried and felt my neck
"Gills." Daniel said sighing

"She says she wants to help me.." Luke signed
"Or take you away from us." Daniel said with hurt in his eyes
"Like my mother... She ran away." Luke sighed
"I would never leave you and Sofia... You're too important in my life...besides... I don't even want this." I signed and hugged my Slimey legs. I peeled off some of the scales.

Daniel sighed
"I know... I'm sorry I didn't tell you... I thought you wouldn't be affected." he said

The door bell rang.
"Be right back..." Daniel said and left.

Sighing, I took another cracker and laid down

"Luke! You're safe! I thought... I thought.." Daniel cried, swimming to an unconscious Luke. He quickly grabbed him and dragged him to shore. His breathing was normal.
Daniel sighed and carried Luke back to the car, laying him in the back.
Starting the car he drove back on the road towards the house.
This night was like the day he found his sister-

Daniel was a college student working the weekends at a fishing shop.
He was working late at the shop and was driving home. It was almost sunset.
He looked over at the beach and saw something, almost like almost a dolphin. It looked to be beached and in pain
"What the..." he muttered and turned to take a closer look.
Walking towards the creature, Daniel gasped and dropped his phone

"Oh my-god." he sobbed and covered his mouth. Falling to his knees

"Danny, it's good to see you." a familiar voice chuckled.
