"Luke," A low voice murmured. I moaned and slowly opened my eyes.
"wake up." They said fearfully, taking my face and felt my forehead.
"Dad?" I gurgled and wiped my mouth. Drool was dribbling on the side of my chin. I looked up to see my father, white as a ghost.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?" I asked sitting up and rubbed my face.
I glanced at the clock; 7:30 am.
'Why the hell would he wake me up this early.'
"I heard you talking in your sleep. More like singing." My father said calming down.
"Singing? You know I don't sing dad." I laughed and stood up.
"It...just worried me." He sighed and walked out of the room.
He's always overprotective. Every little thing that's harmless always seems so big to him.
I quickly decided to take a shower, wash off smell of salt and change into shorts and a tank. I combed my hair with my fingers and brushed my teeth. I began to remember last night.
"Silva, she saved my life." I muttered. Finishing up, I strolled downstairs, deciding to find Silva
'She can't hide forever, I'll find her eventually.' I grinned and walked down the street. Tourists were out and about, crowding shops and beaches. It made it hard to find her. Around  10, I gave up, deciding to go and get a coffee. I made my way to a cafe. I ordered and behind, someone tapped my shoulder.
"Hey fish boy." Silva teased. I turned and grinned at her
She wore a black tank with dark shorts and wore her hair in a braid.
"You really don't like color, do you?" I asked and got my coffee.
"It's my style, I prefer to look the way I feel everyday; dead inside." Silva smirked and ordered a cookie.
"I knew I'd find you." I declared victorious and smiled at her.
"Oh, so you're being a stalker, charming." She retorted biting her cookie.
"It's not stalking...I just found you interesting and wanted to hang." I shrugged.
"What about Opal?" Silva asked
"We're just friends." I responded
"Hmm." She murmured softly.
"I mean you saved my life, I would at least like to take you out to lunch." I said trying to keep my cool. I brushed my hair nervously.
"Lunch, eh, not the first date I was expecting. I imagined a romantic swim out on the sea, you and me, hugging and smooching." She teased and made kissy faces at me.
My face flustered red.
"You know what I mean." I laughed
"Yeah, lunch sounds good. I want you to make me lunch. At your house." She smirked.
"My house, why my place?" I asked curious
"Why not, you said you wanted to hang...so let's eat at your place and hang there." Silva smiled.
"Fine." I sighed and sipped my coffee.
———————————————————
"Wow, this is cozy." Silva said laying on the sofa. She smirked at me and ate the pbj sandwich I made.
I'm not much of a chef. My forte is a pbj.
"Least I won't starve." Silva said and looked at the tv.
"Got any games? Any video games?" She asked standing up and wolf down her sandwich.
'It's like she can't eat anything'
Silva was pretty slim, yet her appetite is so large.
"Yeah, but they're in the attic." I sighed.
"Let's go on a quick adventure up there and then go on a cool adventure playing frogger." Silva smiled and I led her the way upstairs
"We actually might have that game." I said and came upon the attic door.
Slowly turning the knob, I opened and entered the dark room. A switch illuminated the room. Boxes of junk, photos, and clothes were everywhere.
"I guess start looking." I shrugged and started to open boxes
So far nothing but baby clothes. I checked the next one, just photos of me and Sophie.
"Hey, is this your dad?" Silva asked opening a box.
I walked over and saw a younger picture of dad at my age. Next to him was a young girl with blonde hair. I touched my hair and shook my head
"Who's that?" She asked "is that your aunt?"
"Impossible, my father is an only child." I muttered.
"They look like siblings to me." Silva shrugged and turned the photo over
Daniel and Scarlett Crane
"How...why-" I muttered and found more pictures of this Scarlett woman. She had blonde hair and some features like mine
"What the hell is gone one!" I yelled and threw the pictures in the box. Silva dug deeper into the box. She found a small leather journal. It was dusty. She carefully unbuckled it and read the first page. Her eyes widened.
"Read this Luke." She muttered shoving the book in my face.
————————————————————
I read it over and over. Each page, front to back. My father only wrote like 7 pages.
"What the hell." I muttered and closed the book.
"Was your dad drunk or something?" Silva asked watching me pace.
"Maybe...he's not much a drinker...but that's probably what it was. He imagined all this...and maybe Scarlett is a cousin." I muttered laughing nervously.
The door opened and slammed shut.
"Shit, he's home." I muttered, taking the book and leading Silva out. I closed the door and found my father walking upstairs.
"Hey dad." I said nervously, hiding the book behind my back. Silva smiled brightly at him. My father looked at us as if we were crazy. "Who's your friend?" He asked
"I'm Silva, I'm new in town." She smiled. My father nodded and looked at me.
"I just went out to get groceries, how's spaghetti for dinner?" He asked smiling
"Sounds great." I nodded and quickly went downstairs with Silva.
We walked outside.
"Oh my god." I muttered and sat on the porch.
"Much as I'd like to figure out this mystery of your family...I should head back to my place. It's all so crazy." She said sitting next to me.
"Gee thanks" I muttered rolling my eyes and looked at the book.
"Hope you find what you're looking for." She whispered waking off my porch.
"Maybe..." I muttered watching her leave.
———————————————————-
My eyes shot open. I rubbed my face. The moon shined in and I hugged himself. Next to me was the book. I took it and opened it.
"It's impossible. Mermaids aren't real." I muttered before falling asleep again.
