How do you ask your dad, hey, who's this Scarlett person and is she my mother? Also am I a merman? Thanks.

No, you can't. My father will think I'm crazy. But if it's actually true, he hid this information from me for years to possibly protect me. Protect me from what?
I contemplated this as I took a bath.
I wanted to be with my thoughts and think of a way to ask my father about this journal.
"If it's all real, then my father is actually my uncle." I whispered and dunked my head under the water.
That dream I had, it felt so real. I felt my legs become one big shiny tail. These thoughts of mermaids are driving me crazy.
"Ow!" I muttered and touched my leg. I sat up and felt something coming out of my skin. I looked closer and pulled it out. I cried and tried to hide my pain. I inspected it even closer; a green scale.

"Luke want more eggs?" My father asked stirring the scrambled eggs.
How could I eat, my stomach felt scrambled. Sofia luckily wasn't here, she went out with her friends. This gave me the freedom to show him the book.
"Uh, no I'm full." I softly smiled and took my plate, placing it in the sink.
"You okay, you look a little pale." My father said touching my forehead.
"Oh, I'm fine, didn't sleep well." I said laughing nervously and sighed.
My father raised his eyebrows and shrugged.
"That girl, Silva, is she your girl friend?" He asked teasing.
"I nearly choked on my breath.
"What? No, I just met her, she's my friend." I said sheepishly.
"Hmm, Whatever you say." He grinned and wiped his hands.
It was quiet for a moment.
"Dad, how did you meet mom?" I asked softly. His eyes widened. He rubbed the back of neck
"I already told you, I met her out by the beach, she was wild and adventurous. She made me do the craziest things." He smiled and stared at the ground.
I know that story. That's his coverup.
I swallowed hard
"Who's Scarlett." I whispered in stutter.
Instantly, my father glared at me with large eyes
"How do you know that name?" He spat, shaking a little.
"I found a box of pictures. Of you with a girl...named Scarlett Crane...is she your sister? I thought you told us you were an only child." I said softly.
I gave my Father time to speak.
"D-did you find the book?" He asked.
I nodded slowly
He sighed and slowly walked to the living room.
"I know I would have to tell you this." He muttered and sat on his chair. I sat across from him and hugged my knees.

"Luke, listen, the pictures you see on the walls, that isn't your mother, that's Sophia's mother, Marissa." He started and took a deep breath

"You're actually my nephew, your mother was my sister and I adopted you when she died." He spoke.
"Look you have to listen with no judgment. These are the facts. It's insane I know...but it's the truth." He said softly and took another breath before speaking.
"Your mother, Scarlett, she fell in love with a merman, named Julian. They were together so long that Scarlett wanted to permanently be with him. She was given a potion by Julian and her human body changed." He said looking up at Luke. Luke's eyes stared at the ground.
"I remember because that night, I found her vomiting in the bathroom. She looked like she had cut the sides of her waist but those were gills. Scarlett became a mermaid to be with your father. I never saw her again. Until I was in my twenties, I found your mother. She had you but an egg. It was very odd." My father said and softly smiled, chuckling a little.
"I was excited to see you grow up, but your mother...but she was terribly wounded, she began to look like a corpse everyday. Your father, Julian, she never told me what happened to him. She assumed he died." He shrugged.
Luke looked down still, not moving, barely breathing.
"Scarlett...she wasn't there one day...her body was gone. I never knew what became of her. But I saw a note she left. It was to watch over you." He said and wiped his eyes a little.
My father looked up at me.

What was I supposed to think? This couldn't be real. I didn't want to-no I refused  to believe that my parents are fish.

I was trembling and breathing hard. I looked down and felt my face, sweaty and hot. Last thing I saw was the ceiling and I remember hearing my father cry.
—————————————————————
"Luke, wake up." My father's voice echoed in my head.
My father...he's my uncle.
"Please, Wake up" He cried. I felt him hold my hand. My eyes fluttered open. I felt ill. My stomach gurgled and I groaned sickly.
"Thank god you're alive." He cried and smiled
"I had no idea what happened...you were quiet and then you went unconscious." He said. I slowly sat up.
"Get me...to the...bathroom." I sputtered and covered my mouth.
'What the hell is wrong with me!'
"You okay?" He asked helping me stand. He guided me down the hall to the bathroom. I found myself glued to the toilet, vomiting whatever I had for breakfast. It hurt. I felt my insides curl and my body shake.
My father, he rubbed my back.
He may be my uncle, but raised me as a father. He was gently and comforting.
"I think I'm dying." I cried and laid my head on the cold floor. My father left to get me a cold rag and water. He damped my face, and poured water into my mouth.
I felt as if I was a sick child again, needing to be taken care of.
"I saw this happen to Scar." My father sighed and rubbed his face.
'Oh great! I'm turning into a fish! How wonderful!'
I closed my eyes and placed my hands on my stomach.
"Oh god, I feel like I'm being pulled apart." I muttered and hugged myself. My father gently brushed my light blonde hair. I stayed on the floor for a while, eventually falling asleep.
