*trigger warning, mentions and attempt of suicide*

please stay safe. you are loved <3

Val felt like she was at the tip of awakening from a nightmare when you're aware that it's just a dream but it doesn't feel any less fake or terrifying until you're awake and safe in your bed.

The group of six before her were still in the same white, plain dresses from the Harvest. The only indicator that something was off was their pale, grayish skin and the fact that they were there at all.

The sob growing in the back of her throat refused to leave. Her lips trembled like her body and the weight of heartache flooded all her senses. The side of her jaw clenched and her teeth ground into each other, blocking the cries that tried to leave her mouth. Tears stung the rim of her eyes, pooling over and spilling into two thin rivulets on each of her numb cheeks. "You're not real," she whispered, still trying to take in the scene before her.

The sentence was an attempt at tricking herself into thinking it was true. It didn't work because they were there peacefully standing in the room before her. The words seemed to tear away at her throat, stopping her from speaking another word. Her eyes stung with salt and when she shut her eyes to squeeze the memories of the girls before her, her mind trailed back to the Harvest only everything ripped more. The soft voices that lulled in like sirens had disappeared leaving her purely alone with the figures in front of her.

"Some of that is true," Rowan cocked her head and glided towards Val. Val shut her eyes as she approached, almost like she expected to be smacked in the face with an invisible wall as soon as she came close enough. The possibility of it being more than her imagination was real caused the knee-jerk reaction of tension.

      It didn't happen.

The girl crept closer and closer until she stood next to Val. With every step she took, Val felt her heartbeat quicker and quicker. She thought the cruel release of her diapering would free her, but she could only choke out a gasp when Rowan placed a very real hand on her shoulder.
