❛jealousy.❜

Val pushed down the sick feeling in her stomach as she ran to the garage of the hospital. Instant regret with the sense that she really fucked up didn't bode well at the speed she was moving at. But she now had what she never had before: an answer. Sure, it could've been a lie to trick the witch into letting Deucalion escape, but she relied too much on it to stress over that. Did she betray her friends? The plan was to save Cora out and get Jennifer out without dying. Simple enough, the twenty minutes were up, but she felt a deep, gut-wrenching feeling that they would hate her. The image of Stiles flickered before her, blinking away to join the ranks of the others.

When she walked inside all she saw was a fallen officer in a puddle of thick, fresh blood, and the ambulance. She sprinted and tugged the door open, praying that the phan hadn't failed.

"Jesus!" Stiles jumped out of his seat and crawled back to the wall, one hand over her chest to catch his breath. "Oh my god!" He whispered under fast breaths.

It was just him and Cora inside, the girl still passed out.

"Where is everyone?!" She asked, still staring at Stiles' struggle to get up.

He exhaled through his nose. "Kali came for Jennifer. Derek went to protect her. Scott and Peter are fighting the twins. I was here with a dying girl thinking that my other girl was taken by the devil!" He rambled, kneading his neck with his fist.

He said my girl, she thought. "Oh god," she sighed. Her mind danced with all the possible things that could go wrong and there were far too many. "Should I go help-"

"No!" he shouted holding up his hand, his voice startling the girl. "No," Stiles said softer. "Just stay with me. Please." He rubbed his hand down into his thigh. "I don't want to be alone."

The witch sat down next to him, their legs brushing slightly before they both jerked them away. Shadows arched over him making him look out of an old photograph, a kind of effortless and timeless beauty. The eye contact between them made her heart rate speed up but her anxiety tugged her eyes to focus on Cora's still figure.

"How is she doing?" Val deflecting, still feeling the weight of Stiles look at her side.

"Not great. Hasn't moved. Like, at all."
