*Brooklyn New York, 1941*

"Y/N GET DOWN HERE!"

Y/N slammed down her book and strolled down the stairs to further annoy her brother she rounded the corner to be met by her brother, James, in his military uniform. "Yes?" she said slightly annoyed walking past him into the kitchen.

"Have you seen my hat anywhere." He said in a slightly panicked tone "I can't seem to find it.". She started laughing to herself before responding to him.

"It's on your head, stupid" She said smiling. He reached up and grabbed his hat off his head laughing along with his sister.

"I'm heading out, please make sure you make Rebecca dinner and-." Bucky said trailing off.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, make Becca dinner, put her to bed even though she can do it herself, don't leave the house even though I'm a grown adult who can function by themself, and you assuming I can't makes you sound like an ass by the way, and don't even think about going to the expo-" Y/N said looking around the kitchen casually.

"Actually I was wondering if you wanted to go with me to the Expo." He started. He knew she probably wouldn't go unless there was something in it for her, but he wanted  to at least try to see if Y/N would go out of interest. "I could speak with my officer and see if they can put you on any projects"

"Nope, I'm good." she responded. Y/N had no real interest in going to the expo, and even if buck did talk to his superior it's wasn't like they would hire her to actually work on projects, because no matter smart she was, it wouldn't matter. Bucky could sense that she was starting to get annoyed and she was ready to leave the conversation. Y/N, however, only really wanted Bucky to tell her one thing, but the Stark Expo wouldn't have been his kind of thing so she gave up on it and started to walk out the kitchen.

"Steves going" Bucky blurted out. Y/N stopped dead in her tracks at the door way, 'I guess expo was his kind of thing' she thought to herself. She turned around and leaned against the doorway. "And why would that effect me?" Y/N said hiding her excitement.

"He needs a date. The one I lined up for him cancelled." Bucky said walking closer to his sister. Bucky was hoping that his sister would go not out because of pity, but because he felt bad and she was one of the only people Steve knew that made him smile out of nowhere. Bucky had his suspicions about Steve having feelings for Y/N, but she never seemed to reciprocate said feelings, so he just assumed they were friends.

"Okay, yeah" Y/N said quickly responding.

Bucky was slightly taken aback on the quickness of her response, but he didn't question it because he got to spend his last night with his sister and his best friend. He didn't know how to respond because the longer the conversation went on the more excited Y/N seemed. "Okay...well just meet Connie at the expo okay?"

"Okay, sounds good." Y/N said smiling up at her brother.

"Okay, I got to go...... so I'll see you at the expo." Bucky said as he walked out the door still stunned by his sisters sudden change in mood, but was already late to go get Steve, so he headed towards the theatre.

*Time Skip*

"BECCA I'M LEAVING DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID." Y/N yelled as she walked out the door. Y/N was excited to go to the expo not because of the inventions, but because Steve was going. She knew it was a cliche to have feelings for her brothers best friend, but Steve was not like other guys. He actually cared about others feeling and that alone would have been enough for Y/N.

*Stark Expo*

"I don't see what the problem is. You're about to be the most eligible man in New York. You know, there's three and a half million women here." Bucky said scanning through the crowd for his date and sister.
