*At the bar*
Steve checked his wrist watch see it was 7:15. 'Maybe I should just leave, spare myself the night.' Steve thought to himself. He paid for his drink and stepped outside the bar. He got no less than 10 feet from the door before he heard a voice from behind him.
"STEVE WAIT!"
Steve turned to see a women running towards him, he quickly recognized the woman two be Y/N, and smiled to himself. She started to slow down her pace as she got closer to the man until she was walking.
"I'm so sorry I was late Steve, I just got a late start on the day, and I think there might be something wrong with my watch..." she trailed off examining her watch.
"It's fine Y/N, lets just go inside." She nodded her head at his words and followed him back into the bar.
Y/N casually walked through the bar and over to there normal cozy spot at the bar. Steve, however, walked nervously to the woman next to him. Y/N quickly stepped up to the barstool.
"The normal please, Ronnie." A smiling Y/N said sitting down. The bartender, Ronnie, handed Y/N the drinks quickly. Steve sat next to Y/N as she looked at the glass before turning to him.
"Here ya go." She said placing the glass infront of Steve. Y/N felt like she was on a high, she felt like all was right with the world, well all but the war. But who could blame her, her work day had gone perfectly, and now she got to end it with one of. her favorite people in the world.
Steve's day however was not the best, it mainly consisted of Steve almost backing out of going to the bar in fear of embarrassing himself, which later lead two an anxiety attack and then getting a cantaloupe thrown at him through a window. Did he regret asking her to meet him eat the bar, no, was he nervous to finally pluck up the courage and ask her out, no doubt. The more he thought about how Y/N might react the more nervous he got, his palms had started to shake little and the color started to drain from his face.
"You good you look like you've seen a ghost." Y/N said laughing. "Steve?"
Steve looked at her in response to hearing his name. He was lost in his own head and wasn't really paying attention. Y/N however, was paying extreme attention to Steve's body language. And from what she could deduce, he was really nervous and holding something back that he'd wanted to say, but all she could say was.
"You good over there?"
"Yeah I'm great." Steve started. "The question is how are you?" he said motioning to her.
She had to hand it to him, that was one of his best change-the-subject-now-please segways he's ever had, but she also still wanted to know what going on in his life. Especially since he would be leaving soon, and she didn't know if he'd ever come back.
"I am great, absolutely phenomenal. Work was great, Becca's doing great, and now I get to finish my great day with my favorite guy." She said with smile as she took a sip of her drink.
Steve just smiled at her words. He was her favorite guy? Did she mean guy friend or just like her favorite guy in general?
"Okay now that I've finished my day, tell my about yours" She said leaning over.
"My day also just happened to be great, just did some packing before I leave and just relaxed" He said you know like a liar.
"Sounds nice. Tell me more about you getting excepted."She said trying too avoid the topic of her job. For two reasons, the first being she couldn't legally talk about it, and the second being wanted to know who the hell let her ninety pound asthmatic of a friend join the army.
