"Careful, bloody roots again." Gwen whispered; her voice so quiet that, for a moment, George had to wonder whether he'd imagined it. However, remembering the number of times both of them tripped since they managed to get out of the chaos and swarm of people and enter the woods, he didn't want to risk it.
Rising his foot, thinking it was high enough he proceeded to follow after her. It wasn't high enough and soon George found himself going through the motions again. Stumbling around, his hands waved through the darkness in an attempt to find something he could hold on. He did, but it wasn't as sturdy as he'd wished it to be.
"Ouch." The Hufflepuff groaned out once she managed to regain her breath after having it knocked out of her as she was brough to the ground. As she proceeded to detangle her limbs from George's she sent him a small glare. Although, she might've been glaring at a tree. They looked pretty much the same in that moment.
"I'm sorry." George apologized, shuffling beside her before she felt his hands on her shoulders helping her up as he apologized a couple of more times.
"It's fine. Now we're even." Gwen whispered. The response managing to draw a small chuckle from George as he remembered their first fall in the woods. The one where it was Gwen trampling him. "I just wish we could see our own bloody hands in front of our faces if nothing else. Or know where we're going..."
"We'll find it." George whispered reassuringly. What he wouldn't say out loud was that by now he was starting to worry as well. After being separated from Fred, Oliver and Ginny and carried in a completely different direction by the frantic crowd, neither Gwen or George were even sure where to go to get to the Portkey anymore. And the lack of any source of light wasn't helping. "Merlin, I don't care." George finally uttered out with an agitated voice.
"What are you-?" Gwen started to ask, unsure of what he was taking about. However, she was cut short once she heard the familiar incantation leave George's lips, and soon enough she could finally see him too as a light emitted from his wand. "George, we're not supposed to." She warned. Even though both had been carrying their wands from the moment they left the Weasley's tent, neither had yet used it.
"I think they'll excuse it at this time. We're surely not the only ones." George said confidently. If anything, he knew his dad would take care of it. The Ministry couldn't possibly blame him for using magic outside of school at a time like this.
"Do you have any idea where we are?" Gwen asked. Both of them started looking around, but even with the light of George's wand illuminating their surroundings, all the two could see was trees. Trees that in no way looked familiar or distinguishable.
"Actually... I think if we head that way we'll get to the Portkey." George announced, a bright smile on his face making Gwen turn to him with wide eyes. She needed to make sure he wasn't joking, or even skeptical, but he seemed to be completely sure as he started to lead the way. "More roots." He announced, with plenty of time ahead on this occasion. And yet, even though Gwen nodded her head to confirm she could see them, he still extended his hand to her to help her over. For a moment she looked at the outstretched hand, before finally accepting it and letting him pull her ahead gently.
