Gwen really did feel at home surrounded by bookshelves and the quiet of a library. So when she'd been assigned to patrolling the library corridor on the first floor, including the library itself, she was rather happy with it. It wasn't too long after curfew fell in effect, and she'd already found a couple of students who'd studied until the last minute. She'd gone easy, deducting only a few points for each of them before letting them go.

And now she was released into the library alone, not even Madam Pince around to scold her because her footsteps were too loud. In full honesty, it was a rather bad assignment to give her. Because in that moment, all she wanted to do was search for more books which could be of use to Cedric during the second task.

However, it would seem that the universe was eager to remind her of her duties as she heard the sound of someone mumbling to themselves not too far away. And while, at first, she would have assumed it was another student that had lost track of time, realizing from which direction the sound had come from made Gwen grow more suspicious. Because no one was allowed in the restricted section, especially not at this time of night.

For a moment, she wondered if she was even supposed to go check it out. Or if she was supposed to get a teacher instead? "I need a refresher on the rule book." She muttered to herself before finally making a choice and setting off to the door of the restricted section.

The closer she got, the more she noticed. Such as the door being unlocked and slightly ajar. As well as a soft hue cast by someone keeping their light on. Who kept their light on when sneaking into the restricted section? Whoever it was, they weren't too smart. And they were making her job easier. Because once she pushed past the door, all she needed to do was follow it and it led her to the trespasser.

"Of course, it had to be someone I don't want to punish." Gwen groaned out as her eyes fell on Harry's form, hunched over a book that he had open in front of him while the whole table was littered with others.

At first, the sound of her voice made him jump in surprise, but once he knew it was her, he relaxed. "You don't actually have to. McGonagall gave me permission to be here and stay a little longer." He announced, seeming rather happy to actually have a valid excuse to get out of trouble. "She did send Hermione and Ron away, though." He added in a disappointed tone.

"And you're feeling overwhelmed without them." Gwen made her own conclusions by observing his demeanour. It wasn't a hard thing to guess.

"Ron was emotional support. Hermione... she knows all this stuff." Harry said. He didn't know how she knew all this stuff, considering it was restricted, but he also didn't dare ask.

"You understood Cedric's hint?" Gwen asked as she chose to ignore her duties, at least for a little while, and instead took a seat at the table on the opposite side to the Gryffindor.

"Yes, merpeople in the Black Lake stole something which I have only an hour to find." Harry nodded his head in confirmation. "Although at first... Well... Nevermind."
