Chapter 9

Alec

Alec just stared at Magnus.

What did he mean by that?

“What do you mean?” Alec spoke quietly. He looked up at Magnus and saw his face was filled with worry. “What do you mean he looks like me?”

“Well... he had dark hair and blue eyes” he whispered

“Lots of people have black hair and blue eyes” Alec told himself

Magnus shook his head “I’m not going to lie to you Alec” he reached out to hold Alec’s hand but for some reason, he didn’t know why, he flinched away. Magnus sighed.

“But he looked like me in other ways” Alec whispered

“Yes”

“But Alec I love you not Will” Magnus said calmly

“Because Will wasn’t gay and so you thought you could just settle on me! Is that it?” Alec shouted. He was fuming with anger.

“No! Of course not”

Alec stopped. Did their relationship only begin because Magnus was reminded of Will when they met? If he had blonde hair and brown eyes would he be standing her next to Magnus right now?

“Is that why you asked me out? Because I look like him?” Alec whispered not wanting it to be true

“No” he whispered back “never”

“Then why did you we barely even talked before our first date, you barely even knew who I was. I could have been stuck up, selfish and horrible!” he voice began to rise again

“Alec don’t be ridiculous” Magnus sighed grabbing his chin gently so Alec looked at him and not the ground. But right now Alec liked the ground.

“Then. Why” he said clearly looking into Magnus’s cat eyes that he loved to much “Because I thought you fell in love with me because you liked me for me”

“I do” he said cupping his cheeks. They both had tears in their eyes. What Alec had done was horrible he agreed but this, what Alec had done would never of happened if Magnus never thought he looked like William. Magnus would have seen him and never take a second glance. They would never of gone on that over sea’s holiday together, never of had their first kiss. A tear fell down Alec’s face.

“But the only reason we are going out now is because I look like Will?” Magnus opened his mouth to talk but Alec interrupted “Please” he whispered “Not lie to me anymore”

“Yes, but he is nothing like you, you two are completely different” Magnus said and he was silently crying. Alec want to fall to the ground but he could seem to move was just standing there with Magnus’s hands on his cheeks.

Alec stepped back away from Magnus Bane. He didn’t stop until he was out of reach of Magnus. Alec now had tears falling down his face, but he didn’t care.

“Alec, please” Magnus pleaded

“What I wanted to do was nothing, nothing compared to this. Because if I didn’t look like Will you would never of given me a second glance.” He wedged out

“Alec, don’t leave me”

Alec started to walk backwards again “Please, i... I just need time to think” and with that he walked away, and got in a cab.

But in the cab all he could think about was what Magnus just told him.

He looked like you
