Ker'Tak quickly rang the buzzer and heard another thud from within Skye's quarters.
"Skye? Skye?" Ker'Tak called as the door opened. She wasn't by the door. No, she was struggling in the dining area, looking more sickly than Ker'Tak had expected she'd be.
"Oh hi Ker'Tak," Skye squeaked as she tried to prop herself up against one of the tables. She was shaking, one arm holding her gut, "I'm just...Trying to get some water."
Ker'Tak hurried over, got her some water, and then used their free arms to help her to stand upright.
They lifted one hand to her forehead, silent and brows furrowed.
"You are sick," Ker'Tak growled, thoroughly annoyed, "Why didn't you mention anything?"
"I wasn't sick earlier..I only started feeling of after the La Vida's treatment," Skye mumbled as she drank the water rather sloppily.
Ker'Tak sighed as they started to check her pulse.
"Likely that youngling had some kind of toxin on their skin," Ker'Tak was cold in their treatment of Skye, seeing her as a patient now.
"Wh-What kind?" Skye stammered as her grip tightened on Ker'Tak's arm.
"Loosen your grip, Skye, this will pass, drink," Ker'Tak encouraged her to drink more of the water, "This will flush it out of your system."
Skye nodded and drank. Ker'Tak swiftly lifted the human girl into their arms. Skye's immediate reaction to cuddle against Ker'tak surprised them.
In Ker'Tak's mind, they were cursing themselves for forgetting to check for poisoning. Seeing a good doctor in such poor health bit back hard at all who would see it.
"Stay?" Skye mumbled as Ker'Tak laid her down in her bed. They sighed as they took out their scanner.
Her heart rate was elevated, but the poison was moving quickly in and out of her systems. It would be less than a few hours until she would feel better.
"If you must ask, I shall."
"Thank you," her voice was unusually quiet as she fell asleep.
Ker'Tak glanced over, after having turned away to leave the bedroom to let her rest. They were thinking it would be wise to help clean up the mess in the dining area.
But, when looking back, they saw that Skye had taken hold of one of their hands, and was quietly holding it beside her face.
They chuckled a little.
"Humans will pack bond to anything," They muttered as they knelt down by her bedside, leveling with her head against the pillow.
Sleeping for humans was such an interesting thing to watch, the steady rise and fall oddly calming to Ker'Tak. Seeing Skye so still was also strange, despite having helped her before while in such a distressed state.
Gia walked in about thirty minutes later to see that, in observing Skye's sleeping, Ker'Tak had began to doze, their nodes flashing purples, blues and bright pinks.
"Ker'Tak?" Gia shook Ker'Tak's shoulder and they jumped.
"Ah! Human Gia, my apologies, Skye asked me to stay," Ker'Tak mumbled quickly as they looked over their shoulder, the colors fading from their nodes.
Gia nodded and headed into the living area quietly. Skye shifted, rolling over onto her other side as Ker'Tak slowly started to stand up.
Skye woke up with a soft groan..
"Stars...Did I get hit with a truck Gia?" Skye started to sit up and stretched her arms out. She glanced over once at Ker'Tak, then after a moment away, she brought her gaze right back, "Ker'Tak?"
