Ker'Tak hurriedly brought themself back together as the La Vida chimed by their shoulder.
"Yes, yes I am aware," Ker'Tak hurriedly brushed the creature off as they lifted up the notepad and made their way to StarForward. With any luck, Skye would be there.
But she wasn't. Ker'Tak asked the barkeep, a Tree-Bun by the name of Rivenell, with a knack for mixing foods and drinks to make delicious meals, if they had seen Skye come in.
She never made her way down. Not even for lunch. It was just Ker'Tak's luck to run into Gia there, however.
"Skye?" Gia asked, "She came back to our quarters looking kinda sick, she said she was exhausted and was going to take a nap, why?"
Ker'Tak visibly winced, but quickly showed Gia the article, "It appears a new hope has been brought to the Council's attention."
Gia's eyes widened, "and they plan to use humans first?"
"Only because your species has proven most durable of us all. It's an astonishing feat and an honor to have a once banned practice reopened like this," Ker'Tak explained as Mekt'Ta entered StarForward.
"Gia!" Mekt'Ta called and Gia's gaze turned towards him.
"Mekt'Ta! Captain!" Gia gestured for him to join her, "Take a look at this!"
Mekt'Ta glanced at the pad and looked up at Ker'Tak.
"Would you look at that? A Marksman mission ship and we are still progressing faster than one could imagine! It was a good call, bringing Humans aboard," Mekt'Ta smiled and spoke cheerfully.
"This is why I want to see Skye, to show her what possibly is in store," Ker'Tak explained and Gia nodded, her hands hovering over her chest.
"I..Think it can wait, Ker'Tak. She desperately needed the rest," Gia gulped as something hung heavy on her mind.
"Gia?" Mekt'Ta glanced at her, concerned by her tone.
"It's just...It implies that Skye's to become your experiment, and I dunno what that entails, but as her sister it's concerning," Gia stated it outright and Ker'Tak blinked.
"That's not the case at all, Human Gia. She will be treated with the upmost respect, and all experiments conducted must have her verbal and written consent before they proceed," Ker'Tak informed, "No harm will come to your pod-mate, I assure you."
Gia gave a awkward smile and shrug, "It just...Irks me, you know? My sibling, my twin sister, even with her consent, it just.. What if she gets hurt on accident?"
Ker'Tak sighed and Mekt'Ta laid a hand on Gia's shoulder.
"We will not allow that to happen, Gia, I can assure you. We are still a long way before any such experiments will come to the High Council's considerations, a couple of decades at least," Mekt'Ta told Gia. She seemed happy with that answer, but in all reality, she was just worried.
Skye was in a bit of a rough patch, the last couple of days straight up draining her of all energy. Gia hoped she wasn't sick.
The tiny La Vida chimed as it floated up to Gia. It snuggled up to her and chimed carefully.
"Ah, you're the friend of the other one, aren't you?" Gia quietly held out her hands for the La Vidas to cuddle into.
"It is, and they're both very friendly, despite, well, a podling's mistreatment of them," Ker'Tak mentioned and Gia looked up at them.
"She mentioned that," Gia mumbled partly to herself, "She mentioned a few things actually."
"Oh? What else did she mention?" Ker'Tak inquired and Gia shook her head.
