George and Clay had talked through the late hours of the night and into the early stages of the morning until unknowingly fading into a much-needed slumber without ever hanging up. They hadn't not talked every day basically since their first discord call, so the break was unbearable for both of them.
George was overwhelmed with feelings of utter relief and bliss, he didn't even want to think about the strange week prior. He had been floating in a labyrinthine limbo, lacking any answers and possessing seemingly unlimited queries. Thankfully, many of those had been resolved as Clay had further explained his mindset at the time of the "break up," leaving George sympathetic and substantially more knowledgeable than before. He was grateful to have answers, as vague as they may have been. But maybe emotions like the ones Clay was feeling were vague-yet, unwanted and stupid and uncontrollable and explosive and unpredictable. Maybe they were just there, residing deep inside of the blonde, and George or Clay couldn't do anything to prevent them.
Upon waking up, the sight of George's bedroom didn't nauseate him nearly as much as it did the previous day, although he still yearned to be elsewhere. Perhaps George was too desperate for Clay, he hoped he wasn't, that this tedious journey would not just end in more heartbreak. That couldn't be the ending to this story, he could only assume.
George's eyes adjusted to the bright surroundings and he glanced to his phone, currently laying face-down atop his chest. He flipping it over while sighing and noticing that he was still on call with Clay. 6%. He grinned slightly, deciding to not hang up, and plugged his phone in before heading to brush his teeth.
He walked back to his bed after getting ready to hear a small rustling noise coming from the other end of the call-Clay must've woken up.
"George?" A gruff-sounding clay murmured into the phone, presumably trying not to wake the brunette up if he had still been asleep.
"Morning," George chuckled lightly.
"Ugh, I hate this."
"What?"
"You not being here." This was your decision, dumbass.
"You said you wanted me to stay here for now."
"I know."
"I'd come back." In a fucking heartbeat.
"No, we should take it slow, it just sucks." Ugh.
"Yeah."
"I wish I could be waking up next to you instead of this stupid phone."
George giggled, "If you change your mind, you know I'd hop on a plane today."
"Fuck, I wish this were easier."
"If me staying here is what you need right now then I guess we'll just have to deal with it. I can do long-distance if it means we'll be okay." He didn't actually know if he'd be able to deal with this or if it would hurt too much to be away from Clay, but George needed to pretend for both their sakes.
"Thank you."
George concealed a wanton sigh, "You're welcome. Um, I think I should probably stream again today, I left pretty suddenly, they're probably confused..."
