Y/N

Y/n sat alone on the park bench, the chilly night air nipping at her exposed legs.

She checked her phone for what felt like the 20th time that evening. It was now 8 PM and there was still no Akaashi in sight.

With a pained sigh, she turned the phone off. On her black screen, she saw her reflection and her mood faltered even more. In her opinion, she looked beautiful. She had gone all out. Even going as far as to ask her mother to do a little makeup for her. She was even wearing a cute little dress that she thought he'd like.

She chuckled bitterly at her own patheticness. All that for a guy who wouldn't give you the time of day. And yet her thoughts couldn't help but drift to him

Was he with her right now? Was that why he didn't show up? Because he had already found his happy ending?

She stared down at the box of candies she had made especially for him. Before she realized it, warm drops felt to her shaking hands. Then her body wracked with sobs as she cried for the love she never got to experience. So much of her time and dedication wasted on someone who didn't even care about who she was.

It wasn't fair. She loved Akaashi. She always had, and she had done everything she could to show him that. So why was it that someone who hadn't even looked at him until a few days ago could steal his heart when she had been trying for so long?

Was she really so imperfect? So impossible to love that the universe sought to push her like this?

What was she thinking in the first place? Why would Akaashi ever love someone like her? Why was she so simple to think that some stupid letters would get his attention when he had someone like Jenny at the centre of his world?

Yes, that was it. He was like the Sun that she could never measure up to, never hope to compare to much less to be a companion to. She had no place in his world. Despite the fact that he was the core of hers.

In a fit of distressed rage, she shot up grasping the box of treats she had made for him and flung them to the ground, angrily stomping on them until the buttercream oozed out the sides. The momentary satisfaction it brought her soon faded, and the pain in her chest only worsened.

The skies above her mirrored her feelings as dark clouds began to gather. She played no mind to this as she pulled her knees up to her chest as she sobbed quietly all alone in the park.

It was somewhat comforting, being able to cry alone. Without anyone to judge her for her own stupidity. It was all her fault after all.

It was her fault Akaashi couldn't find anything to love on her. Her fault that she wouldn't tell him the truth. And it was her fault that Akaashi was with Jenny.

Her thoughts felt louder than her cries, enveloping her in a cocoon of misery. All she wanted was for someone, anyone, To show her even an ounce of the same love she showed Akaashi. But there was no such person.

She was alone.

Y/n was so caught up in her self pity that she almost didn't notice the onslaught of tiny droplets that soon surrounded her, nor the gentle vibration of her phone in her pocket. Through blurry eyes, she was just barely able to make out the contact name while she ran to take cover underneath a tree.

"Hey, Little owl! How'd the confession go?" Y/n's lips trembled as she tried to steady her breath. "H-he didn't come." was all she could manage. the other end went silent before the person harshly exhaled.

"I'm so sorry y/n."

"It's fine. I wasn't expecting much anyway."

"Where are you?"

"The park-"

"As in you're outside? Y/n it's raining like hell. Do you have an umbrella?"

"No, but I'm fine-"

"Don't move ok? I'm coming to get you."

She didn't protest anymore, knowing he was just looking out for her. Instead, she put her bag on her head to run back to the bench and grab the box of now ruined candy and the pack of f/c envelopes. She had brought them as proof for Akaashi but she no longer needed them. Not now, and never again in the future.

Her eyes were set as she tossed it into a nearby trash can.

If Akaashi didn't care about her letters then she'd just stop writing them.
