Chapter 37: More Work Studies

I wake up the next day to my alarm. I reach over and slap the snooze button, before cuddling back into Kyoka. I fall back asleep for another ten minutes, and the my alarm goes off again. I groan and roll out of bed, putting my feet under me.

Ugh, I have work studies again. So do my group members, Kiri, Midobro, Uraraka, Tsu, Shoji, and Kyoka. I remember Kiri, Midobro, Uraraka, and Tsu said something about all working together. on a mission today, but they couldn't tell us what the mission was.

"Hey, Kyoka, it's time to get up." I say, shaking her lightly. She groans and sits up, stretching and yawning. She gets out of bed, gives me a hug and a kiss, and then zombie walks over to the door and walks out of it.

Once she's gone, I start putting on my Hero Costume and my Sharpshooting Gear. I head downstairs when I'm done. I see Cellophane and Grape Juice standing together in the kitchen. I walk up to them and stand by them, waiting to go.

The mood around us is so dark. Deku isn't smiling, Uravity doesn't seem bubbly, Red Riot is absentmindedly hardening and unhardening his fist, and Froppy is pacing back and forth.

All of my friends are so tense, it's amping up my Anxiety. I should probably cheer them up.

"Hey guys, check this out!" I say, grabbing a fork and walking over to the outlet by the counter. I stick the fork in and, using my quirk, stop any electricity from coming through. However, I still act like I'm getting electrocuted, using my quirk to raise my hair while shaking. Everyone jumps, the girls yell my name, Kiri grabs my shoulder with his hardened hand, and Deku yells for Momo. I stop and chuckle.

"Guys, I'm immune to shocks, remember? I mean, look at me! I have a lightning bolt in my hair!"

"Kaminari Denki! Don't do that to us!" Momo scolds me.

"Sorry, Mom-O. Just a harmless prank. Hahaha! I can't believe you guys fell for that!" I say, wiping the tears out of my eyes.

"Okay, I admit, that was pretty funny, Kamibro." Kiri says, smiling and clapping me on the shoulder. Unfortunately, he did it with his hardened hand, knocking me into the counter. 

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry Kaminari!" He says, helping me up. I stand up and start laughing, and soon enough everyone else is laughing with me.

While we're all laughing, Aizawa-sensei walks in. He looks around at us all laughing, sees me in the middle of it, and smiles gently.

"Okay, problem children, I hate to interrupt your fun time here, but your pro heroes are here. Uravity, Froppy, you guys are coming with me. Red Riot, Fat Gum was set on you and Suneater being with him. He said, and I quote, 'My boys are coming with me, because us strong guys need to stick together.' So, I guess he really thinks highly of you two. Deku, You and Lemillion are going in the car Sir Nighteye sent for you guys." He said. "As for the rest of you, You're Pro Heroes are in cars out front waiting for you. Don't keep them waiting."

"Grape Juice, Cellophane, let's go." I say, slapping my glasses on. I load up my shooter as I walk out, Cellophane and Grape Juice right behind me. I find Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods in a grey car and hop in the back, the other two getting in as well.

Once we're all in, Kamui puts the car in gear and revs off at top speed. As he's driving, Mt. Lady explains today's mission. "Okay, so something big's going down today. Our group, The Lurkers, is not part of the big mission, but we are going to be back up in case something happens."

"Alright, boys, it sounds like shit is about to go down. Let's put our mean faces on and get serious." I say, tapping the side of my visor, activating my HUD. Cellophane snaps down his helmet as well.

"Alright, Trainees, let's rock and roll. We have our mission, let's get to it." Mt. Lady said, getting out of the car. The rest of us quickly followed suit.

Once we got out of the car, we patrolled around the area for a while. It was very uneventful. It seemed like the entire city was holding its breath, waiting for something big that was approaching.

After patrolling for several hours, we began to hear a ruckus towards the center of the city. I instinctively started heading towards it, my Anxiety and adrenaline ramping me up. I was acutely aware of the sounds of what seemed like small earthquakes, strong gusts of wind, and widespread panic.

"Chargebolt, stop! This isn't our business! We have explicit orders to stay away from that part of town today!" Mt. Lady yells, stopping me in my tracks. I struggle, naturally inclined to assist the people in need, and yet anxious and unwilling to put myself in danger.

Luckily, a solution presents itself soon enough. A family of people with mutation quirks with the appearances of moles all run into a car, but when daddy mole turns the keys in the ignition, the car refuses to turn over and start.

I run over to the car and wave his attention, putting up my finger to ask for a minute. I pop his hood, then locate the malfunctioning battery, and pour about 800 volts in,enough to recharge the battery at least half way.

I then shut the hood and give him a thumbs up, and he tries again. Almost immediately, the car roars to life.

As he rips past me, a shadow crosses my face. I look up to see what looks like a giant bird-human monster being propelled through the air. It looks like Tokoyami took a shit ton of steroids and then peeled all his skin off.

Suddenly, a bright, strangely familiar, green flash shoots into the sky, piercing through the monster and changing direction, coming back around for another hit. This time, it seems to be more powerful, and I can make out a dark humanoid shape within the flash.

"Holy shit... is that Deku?! When the fuck did he get so powerful?" I wonder aloud.

The flash, or rather Deku, as I can tell him to be, pierces straight through the chest of the monster, before dropping back down out of sight.

"Chargebolt, come on! We're getting out of here! They're going to finish cleaning up, we need to be ready for the briefing!" Kamui Woods yells from the car. I run over and hop in before he speeds off in the direction of U.A.
